 Want to go to Hampi

Can someone help me please with trip to Hampi. Going to Cavelossim in January for 4 weeks and want to go to Hampi for 2/3/4 days during this time. What is the best, and cheapest, way of getting to Hampi and can someone recommend a 3* hotel near to remains. Thanks

Have tried to e-mail Melo tours, but my e-mail keeps coming back as unable to deliver. Was trying tours@melotours.com and also info.@melotours.com. Anyone know why I am having problems? Have they gone out of business? Thanks

Shassa

I don't know why you're having problems contacting Melo Tours but £90 pp sounds very expensive.

It's probably 3 years since we did our last trip to Hampi but it was nowhere near that price, more like £45 per person.

in fact, if you take a look at this company (run by a British couple), they're quoting £45 pp.

We did a Mumbai tour with them and it was very well organised.

I wouldn't book direct with Melo and pay that amount.

Shassa,

I agree with ppcat! £90 sounds a bit steep.

I think our return train tickets (paying commission to an agent in Benaulim) cost about 1000 rupees and our (basic) accommodation 800 rupees for two nights. Add on a few taxis and this and that and I think you'd be hard pressed to spend £30 for two people for two nights (think I have got my sums right...)

Of course going on an organised trip would be easier and a tour guide may be helpful but it's really not hard at all doing it yourself.

So if saving money is important then diy!
