 Pls advise, a trip to Cochin

My family and I will go to Cochin on Feb for 4 days 3 Nights. We are a foreigner consisted of 2 adults, a senior citizen and a toddler, none of us ever been to Kerala. I would like to ask for an advise of a hotel and an attraction which is suitable for us;

1) I planned to stay in a houseboat for a night, not very sure which route to take, trustworthy company, nice, clean & new boat.

2) which day I should take a boat trip, first day of arrival ? or the next day?

3) I planned to book a Taj hotel, how far from a port to a houseboat or other attraction sites?

4) We would like to visit a temple, which place is the nice temple in the distance of 1 hour drive?

5) Any other places we should visit, pls advise.

Thank you very much for your response.

Regards,

Supida

Hi

Welcome to Kerala!!

1. There are number of good houseboat providers. It would be wiser to book early and go than going there and searching for a provider. Lakes & Lagoons is a good option.

2. It is suggested to take boat on the day prior to your departure. First day you would be coming after your journey. You can book the hotel for 02 Nights. Third night on HB and go to Kochi Airport which is 2 h drive.

3. Taj hotel at which place are you mentioning? At Kochi? If yes, It is 55 km to houseboat. Attractions of Kochi are not far.

4. You can visit Chottanikkara temple.

5. As you have only 01 day apart from houseboat, you can visit Alleppey beach.

Have a wonderful time in Kerala

You might try a small family owned tour company. We used, in love with kerala, and they arranged a very good tour for us. I think they could do a houseboat and other things for you - very reasonable.

I took the ferry from Fort Kochi to Vypin Island and visited the pink church on the lagoon, took a long boat ride on a private hire boat on the lagoon/harbour and also enjoyed the Hill Palace Museum. If you're interested, there's also Our Lady of Ransom church and the Rosary Park on Vallarpadam. A mini-pilgrimage if you're a Xtian, frankly hilarious if you're not!
