In Hokkaido from last wk of Oct to 1st wk of Nov.

Hi

I need advices about my itinarary in Hokkaido. As I will be purchasing the JR pass, I wish to make full use of it and travel within a tight budget in Japan mainly by all things JR after I land in Tokyo. My first priority is to enjoy nature, than culture, food and lastly shopping. My tentative itinarary after Tokyo is:

day 1: by JR to Hakodate (stay)

day 2: Sapporo (stay)

day 3: day trip fr Sapporo to Otaru and Toya-Ko ( not sure if it is assesible by JR train or JR bus between otaru and Toya-Ko)

day 4: day trip fr Sapporo to Biei and furano

day 5: Asahidake and stay there.

After Asahidake, I will have to back track to Hakodate and move to Aomori and continue my journey from there.

Is Asahiake summit worth the while traveling up to? Any comment of the itinaray is welcome.

Hi there

sorry I didnt respond earlier.

My thoughts:

Tokyo to Hakodate. Stay.

Hakodate to Sapporo. Stay.

Day trip to Otaru. Stay Sapporo.

Sapporo to Sounkyou. Stay.

On the way back - go to the zoo at Asahikawa.

Go to Noboribetsu - stay.

Back down to Aomori.

end of October is past the fall colors at Sounkyou, and not really snow yet...but the mountaisn views will be snowy...

Don't worry for the late reply. Thanks for your reply and suggestion. May I know why is Otaru not in your suggestion?

Any suggestions for a nice budget hostel near Sapporo JR station?
