Hi

We went to Royal Island for the third time last year.

The house reef is within swimming distance and was very good.

We saw all the usual variety of fish and a turtle.

Everything is very good at Royal Island from snorkelling to accommodation to food.

On the negative side I've recently read somewhere online that the beach is suffering from some erosion in certain areas. Maybe you should read any recent trip reports for advice on a good room number and email them requesting a room where there isn't erosion.

If emailing the resort you could also ask for a table by the pond in the restaurant as this is a nice location for meals.

I'm sure you will have a great holiday and as Royal Island have a private lounge at the seaplane terminal your holiday will have a nice relaxing start.

Regards

Siobhan

Hi

Just read some of your previous posts and would add to what everyone else already said which is to buy your own snorkelling mask and fins before you go.

Also unlike many islands Royal isn't really no news no shoes because the paths are paved not sand so you will need sandals for walking to and from the restaurant - not heels obviously just comfortable sandals or flip flops. The paved paths would be a bit rough on your feet.

The pool there is also very good with a lovely view overlooking the ocean. We didn't use the pool much as we prefer the ocean but it is very nice.

You don't need to bring the beach towels from your room to the pool as they provide plenty of towels pool side. Beach towels are also provided in your room for your sun loungers.

If it is your honeymoon then you will probably get a fruit basket and bottle of wine in your room on arrival.

I'm sure you will have a wonderful time and feel free to ask any other questions you have. Before discovering the Maldives Greece was our favorite holiday location especially Pythagorian in Samos.

Regards

Siobhan
