We enjoyed, when travelling to Malaysia with family, a delicious meal at Bijan Restaurant on Jalan Ceylon. While it doesn't have views (or a Michelin star) what it does have is delicious Malaysian food, tasty cocktails, and fantastic service.
I have worked in hospitality before, not silver service, but the next level down... And I have to say the service at Bijan was the best I've ever experienced. We did not have a booking, and turned up at their doorstep having walked in the rain (we had our very un-classy plastic disposable ponchos on). The restaurant was clearly busy that night but they were still able to find a table for the four of us.
There was no waiting for service, we weren't rushed, we also didn't have that all pervasive "service" where every minute someone is checking on you, whenever we needed something, someone would appear. Perfect timing on taking drinks orders, drink delivery, taking meal orders, removal of empty dishes, offering of desserts etc. As our dessert orders were about to be taken a very rude man on the table next door demanded our waitress take his meal order - she was brilliant, took his order but ensured that a "replacement" waiter was at our table in mere seconds to take our dessert order.
The meals themselves were delicious. We shared various dishes so we could get a taste of the different flavours. There is a sample menu on the Bijan website: http://www.bijanrestaurant.com/
It's a great opportunity to try some delicious Malaysian dishes, with a somewhat modern twist on the traditional, in a lovely setting, with fantastic service.
We would definitely go back,
