We had a woman bit in Garden City, SC over Memorial Day weekend, I believe she received 90 stitches she was in about thigh deep water. Our friend, over weekend, caught a 10' tiger shark at the closest buoy to the Little River inlet here in SC. They are out there

It was a lady visiting NC. They expect her to be fine. I wish her well.

From WITN-TV

A 30-year-old woman wading in the ocean was bitten by a shark Tuesday.

It happened around 1 pm in the waters in front of Tar Landing Villas, on the eastern part of Atlantic Beach in Carteret County.

The woman told EMS workers that she felt something bite her right thigh, and when she tried to kick it, the shark bit her left foot as well. She told authorities the shark was about five feet long.

The woman was taken to Carteret General Hospital.

Atlantic Beach's fire chief says it's the first time in 13 years that a shark has attacked someone on the town's beach.

"Definitely a case of mistaken identity, the water is murky, surf is rough a very isolated case we are not trying to scare the public we didn't even close the beach," says Chief Adam Snyder.

I don't understand why they say sharks don't attack. Obviously, they do attack, unprovoked.

The ocean is nice to look at, but give me a resort pool anyday. Its clean, you can see your feet and there are no sharks or jellyfish. Had a jf sting once, it was enough to keep me out of the water from then on.

I watch shark week on discovery channel last month, and yeah sharks do bite. Alot of times the water is cloudy and the shark sees something thinking its a fish and bites down, then realizing its not what it wants. They really dont perfer to eat humans, and rarely do eat us. You have to be careful at low tide. The bait fish that are swimming in the sound waters are now sucked out to the ocean and thats what the sharks want. If you see a school of fish, or even dolphins get out of the water. I even watch the pelicans, when they start diving for fish I get out. But I have to say after watching a week of shark week and hearing the victims talk about their experience it has me alittle scared-even though I don't go out much above my knees-but me husband and daughter do. Also leave all shiny jewlery at home. The reflection atracks fish and sharks.
