My wife and I are spending 3 days and nights in and around Austin from the 20th - 23rd March. I am thinking of staying in 3 different places and would be very grateful for any help / advice anyone can offer.
We want to stay in nice places and we don't mind spending a bit more if it's worth it - because a) we've already flown all the way to texas and b) the rest of our holiday we're staying on the floors of family and friends and we're gonna feel like a bit of luxury...
SO - I want to spend (or rather Mrs Lozatron wants to spend)
ONE NIGHT IN WINE COUNTRY - I was thinking of a nice B&B with a bit of character - I had heard of the Full Moon Inn in Luckenbach - does anyone have any other recommendations?
ONE NIGHT IN LUXURY WHERE YOU CAN GET A BIT PAMPERED - Barton Creek looked pretty fine, as does the Four Seasons - however what would be really cool is somewhere a little smaller and a little more out of the way that I can look good for having discovered myself...
ONE NIGHT IN DOWNTOWN AUSTIN - was thinking about the Driskill - is it worth staying there or should we rather get a room nearby and just pop in for a cocktail or two?
Any advice or comments on the places I'm thinking about, alternatives, things we should visit when we're around, wineries, anything at all - please let me know...
Thanks for your help!
