Can anyone tell me when the spring wild flowers first appear in Texas hill country?
Wildflower peak blooming periods are difficult to predict. It is also hard to know in advance if the season is going to be good at all. Rain and the conditions in the previous year can make a big difference. You will want to obtain current information by calling the wildflower hotline: (512) 832-4059, extension 4. The hotline is in operation from mid-March to the end of May and will tell you what is blooming throughout Texas.

Hope this web site will have what you're looking for. The wildflowers are not out yet. We do have redbud trees blooming and mountain laurels starting to bloom.
Here's another website for you - It's the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. It says the "2006 Forecast"... so it may be out of date, but it provides links which will be helpful.

Our redbud trees started blooming this week - overnight it seems, and we're a little north of the Hill Country. It'll be any day now before those gorgeous bluebonnets pop up!
yep, bluebonnets are already coming up everywhere, just as of last week, from what I've seen.
there are a ton of bluebonnets around town right now, unfortunately most of the places I have seen are on the side of the freeway
