My Partner and I are visiting Austin from New Zealand in September 2009. Only on our TV do we get to view the excitement and fun that a big game must be. What is recommended for us to go See?
Appreciate any help offered.

Austin does not have a major league professional sports team in any sport. You can still catch a big American football game though if you can get tickets to a University of Texas football game. Houston and Dallas both have professional football teams, but getting to either will require a three or four hour drive. Each also has a professional baseball team if you're intersted in that. There is a minor league baseball team that plays in Round Rock, Texas, just north of Austin, but their season typically ends the first weekend in September.
September is not the season for professional basketball or hockey.
Definitely try to get to a UT football game. I don't know when the 2009 schedules come out, but go to http://www.texassports.com -- they'll show up there first.
Ditto djr. You MUST go to a Longhorn game to experience life in Austin. Folks plan their kids' birthday parties around game times, you can go to the Salt Lick and not have to wait on game evenings, etc.
