Are there any decent and reasonably priced hotels within walking distance of the UT football stadium. I plan to attend a Longhorns game in October, and I don't want to have to worry about parking for the game.

Not really. The Rodeway Inn across I-35 from the stadium gets horrendous reviews on TA. The next closest hotel is UT's new ATT Conference Center, which is great but also expensive.

Choose a decent hotel downtown and take the bus or the 'Dillo. I think there might also be a special game day shuttle.

Parking is so bad that folks park in my neighborhood and walk a few miles.

You may want to check the Doubletree on 15th St. Easy walk to the stadium. La Quinta is a bit more of a hike, depends on how far you want to walk. I'd walk to the stadium from either of those and I'm an old fart. :)

I agree that either the Doubletree or the AT&T Conference Center are going to be your best bets in terms of being able to walk to the stadium. Neither are going to be inexpensive on a game weekend. Prices tend to spike when large crowds are expected. Also, hotels tend to book very early for game weekends.

I just did a quick search for the weekend of October 10, the only home game in October, and rooms at the Doubletree are priced at $309 a night! Rooms at AT&T are going for $289 for that weekend. It may be a good idea to seek out alternatives, as suggested above. The Extended Stay American on 6th and Guadalupe has rooms for $95 that weekend. You could stay here and take the 'Dillo up to the south end of campus and walk from there to the stadium.
