Hi walker013, and welcome to the Colorado forums. It might not be a good idea to post your email here on this public place, as it could invite spammers. (You can request your post be removed if you'd like to, and repost without the email.) Posting your email address is not necessary, as you will get answers right here on the forum, and people can also send you a private message.
The Glenwood Hot Springs Lodge would be ideal for your stay, if you can book a family suite. Reviews are mixed, but they have recently completed a bazillion dollar renovation, so accomodations should be very nice. It is very close to the rail station and your stay includes unlimited admission to the famous Glenwood Hot Springs pool plus full breakfast, so when you look at the rates, do take that into consideration.
The beautiful, historic Hotel Colorado is also nearby, just on the other side of the hot springs pool, and they have suites, as well. In the summer, I would ask about getting an air conditioned room, as many rooms aren't. Not a problem in the winter or spring, but definitely needed in July or August.
Another historic hotel, the Hotel Denver, is within walking distance of the train station, on the same side of the river as the train station and downtown, but across the river from the hot springs pool. They have one or two suites that might be suitable.
Your grandchildren would probably love the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park, and you can walk or rent bicycles to ride along the Colorado River path. There's a good miniature golf course, as well.
Have a great trip. The train ride from Denver to Glenwood is very scenic!
