Hello, everyone!

So, I've spent the last two days reading forums about destination weddings in FL (I love tripadvisor), and I've come to the realization that this is the right choice for me! My fiancee and I would love a small, intimate wedding on a beautiful (private) beach with a nice dinner/dancing/drinks party to follow. We're thinking about 50 guests and hotel accommodations that are at least 3 stars. Could you please direct me to the right place w/the following:

1.) Private beach for ceremony (I would like to keep the ceremony very intimate)

2.) A restaurant or resort that has wedding packages which include a ceremony and dinner for under $100 pp.

3.) A resort with a bar or fun restaurant nearby to keep the party going into the night.

Lastly, and most importantly, 4.) I want a destination wedding b/c I want to enjoy this beautiful state with the people closest to me and spend about $10,000.00 or under. Can I do it?

Thanking you all for your wonderful advice in advance!

Have you checked with the Islander in Islamorada?

Although they aren't in Islamorada, and there isn't a hotel on site - look into Pigeon key for a wedding. Also Crane Point Hammock. Both in Marathon. Both are beautiful waterfront - private (depending on time of day) Can be catered. Pigeon Key would be awesome!

Tranquility Bay in Marathon does weddings, but it may be higher priced than you want to pay - but worth a look.

Casa Morada in Islamorada may actually have what you are looking for. Lor a lei is right next door for after wedding festivities.

Pierre's (Islamorada) does weddings, but is expensive, but beyond beautiful.

We got married at Marker 88 restaurant on their private beach, with the help of their wedding coordinator Matilde Campo. It was perfect. There was a bar set up for 1/2 hour before the wedding on the beach, which was right at sunset. The ceremony setting was amazing, I have been told the flowers and decorations were beautiful (i'm a guy). There was a steel drummer throughout the evening. Coctail hour followed with great apps- passed and plated, while we had pictures of us taken. After, we went over to a closed off area on the water for on of the best meals we ate in the keys, cooked to order off a menu with 4-5 choices.

All 30 of us stayed at the Islander, which is 4-5 miles away, but they would set up a shuttle for our guests for about $10 a person, which was for both ways.

The Tiki bar at the Islander was rockin, and when that started to die out, our guests went accross the street to the Lor-e-Lai for late night- some went to Woody's........

Need any help or email adresses, phone numbers, let me know. Our wedding has been decribed by my new wife as something every woman in the world should be able to experience, once.

I would start with a coordinator....so beneficial when planning a destination wedding...I would look on the Chamber of Commerce site for the listings of local planners.

Karla,

A great small resort to do a private wedding & reception on the beach is www.coconutpalminn.com , have the reception catered on the beach.

Definately in your price range.

Karla - I am also planning to have a destination wedding in Islamorada! One question for you (and anyone else on this post) do you know about a noise ordinance - ie having to shut down ur music at 10 or 11pm in the Keys? Thanks!
