Victor hotel (Ocean Drive) vs. Ritz Carlton (Lincoln Road) |
|
Hi guys, We will be travelling to Miami in February next year and we can't decide between the Victor hotel which is situated on Ocean Drive and Ritz Carlton (Lincoln road). We want to stay at a nice hotel, but location is very important. We want to be where most restaurants, bars, shopping area are located. So which is best? Ocean drive or Lincoln road? Also, is February a good month for visiting? Does it rain much usually? Thanks a lot, Catalina from Romania |

They are both good locations, and not very far apart. Ocean Drive is the most photographed location, however the Ritz has the only restaurant directly on the beach, whereas the Victor has Lummus Park between it and the beach. Lincoln road is full of shops, restaurants and Clubs. Either way you cannot go wrong.

February is a nice month to visit, can get cold occasionally, but is generally nice with low humidity.. It is not known as the rainy season.

I would choose the Victor over the Ritz any time, unless staying directly on the beach (as opposed to being across the street from it) is important to you, in which case, in February, you can get a room for approximately the same price at the Delano, Shore Club, National, or Sagamore, all of which I think you would enjoy much more, based on your posting. Also worthy of consideration near the Victor (on Ocean Drive across the street from the Beach) are the Tides and the Pelican. The above list is by no means exclusive. The Bentley, the Marriott, The Hotel, and a bunch of others that some folks may think are less snooty also are worth considering and researching to see if they are more you. Everything from the southern tip of the beach (1st Street) up to the Shore Club (around 2200 Collins Avenue) is walking distance from everything else, which is what you'll be doing anyway, since promenading and people watching on the beach and Ocean Drive and Collins Avenue and Lincoln Road, etc., is the #1 daytime and early evening activity (and is positively addicting!).

Cabana room at the National or Garden view room at the Sagamore would be sweet. The Victor has a smaller number of rooms that do not look onto another building. You might want to look at Traveler photos for all these hotels and pick the one that feels best for you.
