Another Trip Report. |
After all the helpful advice given to us in the forum, I thought I would return the favour with a trip report. Our party was me (30) and my wife (30). Sat 20/09/2008 Got to Manchester airport at 9am for 12:35 flight as we had to pick up tickets because we booked at the last minute (was with XL now with First Choice). No queues checking in, was through passport control by 9:45am. Went to the ServisAir lounge for drinks, well worth the money, free drinks and gets you out of the hustle of the terminal. Our First Choice flight was uneventful and we landed on time. Good leg room, layout was 2-3-2. Our town car transfer did not turn up at Sanford so we caught a shuttle, cheaper but it took us 2 hours as they dropped off at Disney, Kissimmee then our sop the Rodeway Inn on I-drive. At least it was cheaper! The Rodeway Inn is a cheap and cheerful hotel. I was feeling very tired by now so it was Burger King for tea then bed. Sun 21/09/2008 Up at 8am. Unpacked and went shopping. Used the I-Ride to go to Prime Outlets (the one near Festival Bay). Bought a 5 day I-ride pass from customer services. Walked to Festival Bay had Subway dinner and then on the I-Ride to Premium Outlets. Went to Chillis for tea very busy, food was OK. Went to the George and Dragon English pub for a last drink. Mon 22/09/2008 Up at 7.30 ready to catch the 8.05am shuttle from our hotel to Universal Studios. Changed our flexi e-ticket into proper tickets easily and was in the park by 9am. Not many rides open. We handed straight to the Simpsons ride. Good, but it did make me and my wife a bit queasy. My favourite ride was Jaws whilst my wifes was the Mummy. Heavens opened about 3ish so we went for a couple of cocktails around CityWalk. Cheap tea at KFC. Tues 23/09/2008 On the I-ride for 8.15 ready for a 9am start at Sea World. Loved the Sealion show, thought the “Believe Shamu” show was really cheesy. Krakken was good but very fast. My wifes favourite was journey to Atlantis. Had to rush back as we had booked places for the Sleuths dinner show. You had to be there for 6.30 so back to the hotel for a shower and back on the I-ride. Sleuths show was very good, food was OK. Walked back to the hotel. Wed 24/09/2008 Up at 7.30 ready to catch the 8.05am shuttle from our hotel to Universal Studios. This time went to Island of Adventure. My favourite ride was Doctor Doom, my wife’s was the Hulk. In the evening went to Hooters. Thursday 25/09/2008 Wet n’ Wild. Loved Disco H20 it was so funky. The other rides are looking dated now. Still a fun place to go. In the evening we walked down to the world of soccer English pub for a couple of drinks and had tea at UNO, very nice. Friday 26/09/2009 Walked the 2 minutes to the Holiday Inn next door to our hotel to pick up our hire car from the Dollar desk. Drove to the Florida mall to get my bearings and then to Port Canaveral.. Journey took 50 minutes, parked up ($45 for 3 days) and was onboard by 2.30pm. We had booked an inside cabin, it was small but perfectly suitable. Straight up to the top deck ready for sail-away. Relised I had not packed any socks. Dinner was nice, couple of drinks in the bar and then bed. Saturday 27/09/2008 Sea was a bit rocky overnight, felt a little bit queasy. Had breakfast, went for a swim. The ship (Sovereign of the Seas, Royal Caribbean) docked in Nassau at 12. Went for a walk round Nassau, caught a water taxi to paradise island, went and bought some socks. Dinner was formal tonight. Again more drinks then bed. Sunday 28/09/2008 Ship moored up a Coca Kay, a island owned by Royal Carribbean. Caught the boat over and had a day at the beach. Dinner was back to normal, had a go in the Casino. Monday 29/09/2008 Off the ship by 7.45!.back in Orlando by 9.00. Went to the Lake Buena Vista factory outlet, very small but some good shops. Checked back in the hotel and went to IHOP for tea. Went to the George and Dragon English pub for a last drink. Tuesday 30/09/2008 Got the 9 am shuttle from Goddings Plaza to Busch Gardens. Favouite ride was Shekria. My wife did not ride it, she is regretting it now. The shuttle set off from Busch Gardens at 6pm back in Orlando by 7.15. Wednesday 01/10/2008 Aquatica in the morning. Get there early and do all the rides. This is the park that got the most busiest. Went over to Sea World in the afternoon to catch the Dolphin show. Don’t try to walk from Aquatica to Sea World like we did. The side walks run out rapidly and you end up walking along the grass. Went to Black Angus steak house for tea, just about OK. Thursday 02/10/2008 Had a lie-in and went shopping. Had tea a Thai restraint, I think it is called Red Bamboo. Very nice. Friday 03/10/200 Drove to Cypress Gardens. $39.95 each, what a rip off. The water park bit was closed and there was no Ski Show. Was back in Orlando by 2.30, went to Wet n Wild. In the evening went for a couple of drinks at Festival Bay. Saturday 04/10/2008 Last minute shopping and drove to Sanford. Had 2 hour delay. Paid $50 to enter the Royal Palm Lounge. Flight back was only 7 hours 10 minutes. |

Welcome Home You packed alot in, wow ! Good tip about walking from Aquatica to Seaworld Sorry about the missing Socks, glad you were able to buy some. Nice to have fit in the little cruise, sounds relaxing except for the seasickness part. Sounds like you had some good meals and a bit of good drinks !! Quite a bit of shopping as well :) Thanks for sharing your Holiday. Any Plans to return ?
You had a busy time - Sovereign of the Seas is a nice ship. Royal Carribbean is a great cruise line! Two weeks - WOW! :)
| ||||||
Whew, you did pack a lot in, but at least it had lots of variety. Sorry Cypress Gardens was a disappointment; perhaps being "after Labor Day" made the difference. Did you like the Rodeway International o.k.? The location is great for sure, but were you pleased with the room for such a long stay?
Certainly did pack a lot in, and glad you enjoyed yourselves. Good TR and very informative. Just interested....we're renting a car this december, but wondered how long the ride is from Prime to Premium outlets on the I-Ride Trolley? Thought it would be fun, and driving at a slower pace would see more on I-Drive instead of in a car. Get booking for next year.
Yes nice report,you`ll need another 2 week break to get over that one. Stopping at Rodeway in 13 days, what did you make of the room? As long as its pretty clean, that will do me its only somewhere to lay your head at night. How much does the car hire work out to be? Not bothering with car gonna use taxi or shuttles. Cheers andy
thanks NG, great TR, you packed alot in! What did you think of the cruise and did you book it in the UK or US?
Enjoyed reading your TR. Sounds like all went well except Cypress Gardens. Did you go to Atlantis at Paradise Island? If so, did you hang out at the pools or do the slides? We really liked their water area when we visited...you went at an ideal time...no crowds!
I went on 9/26 on Royal's Sovereign of the Seas with friends, just 4 girls. We had so much fun, I agree 1st night was bumpy, and last night in Voltage was very rocky but we made it work and dancing with it. Did you catch the sexy leg contest or the belly flop contest? It was a lot of fun, coco cay was beautiful, but a bit overcast later in the day. Nassau was great as always, free shots in the liquor stores. We were on K deck, you may of seen us... just 4 crazy young women (we wore bikini t-shirts on deck for the cheezy factor)
Thanks everyone for your kid replies. Cypress Gardens is closed all week and only opne Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This is why a thought eveyrthing would be open. If I remember correctly the hire car was about £220 for 10 days. This included everything, just turned up and handed in my voucher. The I-Ride from start to finish is about 1hr. This is becaseu there are about 34 stops. We loved the cruise we booked it in the UK, it cost about £278 for the 2 of us via Thomas Cook. The Rodeway Inn is very dated but a good location and clean. Little bit dusty in the corners though. Would return if the price is the same (£22 a night + tax). I remember the t-shirts, if it was you, my wife and i watched you on Cocca Kay. If I am correct the indian lady managed to get a bikini towel to!
LOL thats us, we were taking videos on coco cay beach in the bikini shirts... we enjoy making fools of ourselves
