Im thinking between these 3 and cant make my mind up, anyone been to all three.I love florida he best of course but these others do interest me.
If you need a change go to Rome. Rome is full of history. Canada is beautiful and it all depends on what you like to do.
Hi,
I have:) Rome is great for a short break, we had 5 days there & did all the touristy things, & even squeezed in a day trip to Naples & Pompeii which was great. The food was yum & visited the Trastavere area for dinner a couple of nights & ate where the locals do.
Stayed at Banff in Canada for 2 weeks over Christmas & New Year in 1999 & went snowboarding & loved the place. We went ice-skating on Lake Louise which had completely frozen over & they make ice sculptures within the grounds of the hotel. We also went to Calgary for the evening to watch an ice hockey game:) Banff had some fantastic restaurants & bars & was great for things to in the evening, plus some good shops too.
Much as we both love Orlando, there are other places we still want to visit & off to Goa next, so we're leaving a trip back there for quite some time (unless I win the lottery tonight!).
I tend to visit London in winter, when air fares are affordable.
Google Street View for Rome is about as spectacular as it is for London. It's probably worth visiting just for the Pantheon, an amazingly inventive Roman building made of concrete and still in use. Even Rome's geology is unusual--volcanic deposits that make tunneling easy and that created the city's springs. Through history, Romans have always had clean water. It's said that Romans got the idea for arches and domes from their tunnels and underground rooms.
I've only been to the Vancouver, BC area. The city's setting is the most spectacular on the North American Pacific coast, including San Francisco and Seattle. Vancouver and Victoria are the places to get acquainted with the Northwest cultures--totem poles, distinctive art, the works. For enormous trees, Crescent City, California is better, but they do have them in coastal BC. Do be aware of the really wet winters. Summers are gorgeous.
Wow, thanks for that. they are all of major interest to us, and when im waying them up they will all cost the same really, for 2 weeks in rome if i wanted that it would cost the same as going to canada, that without the add ons of attractions.
I really liked Florida last year when I went last June on honeymoon.
I have been to Toronto twice. I love Toronto, its a lovely place. First time round they had a lot of snow. Got the chance to go dog sledding. It was amazing fun, the snow was about waist deep. The dogs were great fun, so friendly and wanting to run. It was rather cold about -10c before you add on the windchill. But a fantastic holiday.
In a few years we are hoping to do a driving across Canada holiday. Hopefully get to see some more of the country.
Durham has great history, just like Rome. Durham can be as cold and beautiful as Canada. It will never be as hot as Florida (although on a Saturday night it can be as exciting!) Florida any day!
I suspect that air fares to Vancouver would be very high compared to Toronto or Québec, and that the Maritimes might also be somewhat expensive to get to.
In Vancouver's favor, apart from mountains, salt water, gardens and tall trees, is its very large Chinese population. I think Toronto could provide something of the same Asian experience.
I've been to Durham once. The Cathedral looming out of a light fog was an astounding sight.
Edited: 13 years agoI never thought I would have to compare these three! I live in Toronto, I've been to Rome and I've just come back from Orlando. It's pretty difficult to compare, especially since Canada is a big, wide and diverse country whereas Orlando and Rome are only cities.
I would say that it depends on WHAT you like, WHERE you plan to go and WHEN you go.
Canada has more to offer when the weather is warmer. Right now, if you visit Niagara Falls (which is really very stunning), you would probably be able to stand outside for 5 minutes max. And you wouldn't be able to ride the Maid of the Mist boat that goes to the foot of the falls (very cool).
We were in Orlando Dec. 4-13 and it was unusually cold but still pleasant. I would love to go back in the warmer months.
My choice of the 3 would be Rome. So much history, art, culture, good food. No Mickey though.
Ahhh its just to much to consider, they all have good points, and if i go to canada it will be toronto that we go to as we want to see the falls, plus I woould like to go to ottowa as well. I was thinking of septemer time, we would love to do the dog sledding but the cold a real put off, I dont want to be rapped up in layers of thermals like a stay puffed marshmallow man lol,. Even I i write down a list to campare they still have really good things to see and do.The heat is what draws me most to orlando, you really feel like your on holiday when you have heat. We have been to france in the summer twice now and it just felt like the uk, but french speaking, so I didnt really feel like I was on holiday.I couldnt compare rome to durham as really there is very little there, where rome has many sites to see.
What would be really good is a twin centre, maybe a week at orlando and then toronto, but i have looked all over the net and cant find any real info.Ive got no idea where to start to look for that, ive tried virgin and there site is usless cant get info there either.
Hi,
How about booking a 2 week flydrive to Orlando & then getting an internal flight from MCO to Toronto & booking hotels independently? Have just tried a dummy booking on Continental's uk site for September 6th to 13th 2011, & it's come up at £284 return per adult for the lowest fare.
It gives you the option of flying into different places such as Cleveland, Texas, New York (Newark), Miami & then change for the onward flight to Toronto.
Hope this helps:)
