I will be travelling to Orlando in Summer 2011, and plan on going to Discovery Cove. However, my step-son does not swim. Is Discovery Cove for experienced swimmers?

Hi
Non swimmers can still enjoy all the fun of Discovery Cove, we took my MIL who is a non swimmer, and she had a fab time!
You can get life jackets, and there are also floating aids which can be taken into the main swimming pool, and for the fish area there is a large area where you can stand with no need to swim! And the actual Dolphin Swim again can be done without going out of your depth.
You will have a fantastic time!
You can get a non swimming package for DC. We had to get one for our youngest.
The swimming element when you interact with the dolphins is not much. You swim out say 20 metres with a small group so you can then be 'pulled' by the dolphin.
Hi,
You can do a shallow or deep water swim with the dolphins.
Shallow is waist deep when they pull you back and the deep water is treading water until taken back by the dolphin.
You`ll love it!!!

hi,discovery cove is for the whole family non swinners as well as swimmers.we took our 2yo grandaughter with us my husband and son did the trainer for a day progeam, wich gives you 2 dolphin swims not just one. my self and my grandaughter did not do a dolphin swim, but there is so much to enjoy at dolphin cove you do not have to swim unless you want to.
have a great holiday!!
Thankyou All for you generous replies. It is greatly appreciated! I will definitely book our visit to Discovery Cove in confidence :)
Thanks again :)
I swim like a fish......a dead one! However, my good lady wife, daughter and grand daughter had a lifetime experience at DC this year. We had bought the trainer for a day package for my daughter (as it was her birthday) but I enjoyed seeing her participate in her dolphin events as well as enjoyed the ray pool and aviary areas.
I've heard that the ray pool can 'freak' people out. Also the lazy river - (although some parts may be 8 feet or more) - would it be ok for the non-swimmer with a life vest?
If you dont like fish swimming near you then I guess the ray pool could freak you out.
The lazy river is lovely with a life vest on because you just lie on your back and drift about.
