Anyone used the $20 trick to upgrade at a car rental for a better deal? Or have I just been to Vegas once to often ;-) lol
What did the people in vegas do when you handed over 20 bucks for an upgrade?
People use the 20 buck trick in Vegas to upgrade a hotel room but i dont think it works on car rentals, they will ask you do you want a upgrade for 20 dollars more.Edited: 02 May 2012, 2:47
Save it for Vegas.
I did it last year in vegas and got upgraded to a wicked suite in the Vdara but was told by the concierge if the room was available they would have give it to me for free anyway ! so I wasted $20 !! but the suite was brill.
Never heard of anyone doing it for car hire. Give it a go and let us know how you got on !
So you are looking to bribe the counter person? Why would you want to put the person working the counter in a position like that? If they get caught they will be fired.
I have never heard of this!!!!!!
I thought my nice manner was enough!!!
I never heard of this with a car rental-hotels and restaurants, sure but a car rental? This is a joke post right?
We did it in Mexico. When we got there they asked if we wanted to upgrade for $20. We said yes!!! Doesn't hurt to ask.
What is the $20 trick for us that don't have any idea what you're talking about?
It isn't a trick. It is a bribe to try to get something you didn't pay for. While it may be acceptable in other countries, it isn't looked upon favorably in the US (except Vegas). Upgrades are sources of revenue and companies don't like the idea of their people giving away things while lining their own pockets. You put the person in a very difficult position because they could lose their job.
