The "pros" at the Luxor are Myrna and Debbie normally found at King Tut's Bar, and the "cons" are Sammy and George in the landscaping department.
(Sorry, its bad, I know, but couldn't resist).
The best parts of Luxor are:
-- The continuity of the theme, which runs throughout the facility better than most themed resorts in Vegas.
-- The second floor play area, which includes arcades, theaters, food court, etc. and is a lot of fun for both kids and adults.
-- The Steakhouse, which is intimate and verrry good (if expensive).
-- The poker room, with fast action and young, loose players.
-- The ease of connection to Mandalay Bay.
The worst parts are:
-- Man, it can be a loooong walk moving around; the pyramid shape is not conducive to efficiency in going from one place to the next (particularly from the main entrance to your room).
-- The pool is nothing special at all.
-- The quality of the buffet has slipped in recent years to less than average.
-- The drinks are overpriced and they are stingy with comped ones when playing a bar top machine.
-- The pyramid guest rooms have a portion that is unuseable due to the slant of the building; particularly so if you are tall. I am 6'5' and felt a little shut-in and worried about knocking my head in one-third of the room.
