Day 2 - Monday
DH gets up and goes over to O'Shea's about 5 am before the crowd hits - he much prefers to play by himself or with just a few others -- he is 'serious' about his craps. lol
I did not even try to keep up with his ups and downs - I just know over all he was up and as I mentioned his winnings paid for the few cabs we took and our meals we ate at night - so it was great.
He always got up early to play and we met about 3:00 for the rest of the day and evening. I love having my mornings to myself to do what I want to do and take photos of the new things we see -- he loses patience with me stopping to take photos -------- after 35 years of marriage we have worked it out! :)
Monday found me antsy to hit City Center -- it was under construction on our last visit 2 years prior. I enjoyed strolling thru the mall -- Crystals -- before the stores opened and took my time waiting on a friend of mine to give me a call. She and her DH were in town to attend the Country awards show and the Brooks n Dunn concert on Monday night (to be shown on TV on May 23) and all pre and post parties! A very nice perk for his nice job in Nashville....... they did not know half the country stars as they 'were' not country fans prior to this visit. They were staying in the Signature behind MGM so I walked over to her room when she called me about 1 1/2 hours after I arrived at City Center.
I've never been to the Signature -- very nice towers. Their room was a nice large room with coffee pot, mini refrig and sink - but nothing to cook in - no microwave to reheat leftovers...huge bathroom and nice large sitting area....plus a wonderful view of the airport! Lol -- but for free..........
I personally thought the location was way too far from the main Strip for my tastes -- we'd never enjoy being stuck so far south and off the strip. But that is the MAIN reason they loved it -- having been to Vegas several times before they did not intend on doing anything other than the Country parties which were all at MGM -- they did rent a car one day and drove to Red Rock to walk a bit and said how pretty that area is.
I spent the rest of the afternoon at City Center wandering and photographing. The 'water wall' was beautiful....designed by WET who designed the Bellagio fountains. I enjoyed wandering thru ARIA and visited the Spa thinking I would return one day for a day pass to enjoy the 'salt room'.
I wear a pedometer in Vegas as it always amazes me how many steps it takes to get anywhere. For instance, did you know it is about 1/2 mile from the entrance (from NYNY) at MGM to the concrete floor of the mall area leading to the monorail -- that is just the walk thru the casino! I ended up with 16,000 steps today -- which is not as many as many days of yesteryears with over 20,000.
I will post more on my sights of today and our evening adventures........later.
