Have an opportunity to stay in a D-Suite for $60 per night or a Premium room at Downtown Grand at comp. What are your thoughts. Have not been to either property before. Normally a strip stayer/player. Can anyone that has been give me pro's/con's of each property? Both in the room and casino. One other question....how much of an issue is it that the Downtown Grand is not directly on the FSE? Thanks for your help.

I have not stayed at either. If noise from Fremont street is a concern, I would pick Downtown Grand. You will miss the noise from Fremont street and the D. The D's casino plays very loud music.

Although I have not stayed at either property, from personal experience I have noticed & experienced that a number of The D staff have some major attitude issues; particularly in regard to their security staff who seem to have this so called major type of a thug-like, controlling/domineering (who appear to make up their own rules) attitude. I personally would never stay there, no matter what they'd offer me. But it's your choice to make.

Did you read the vegastripping review of the D suite? Its an excellent write up with lots of pics.

My only concern would be noise from Fremont if you are a light sleeper. But that's a great price for what looks to be a nice suite. I noticed that for this Friday night, on the D's site they're selling it for $599 a night.

Hi

I have not stayed at either but I intend to try the new Grand on my next visit. I have never particularly liked the D. Our usual downtown hotel is the GN.

I have stayed at the D (before called the Fitz) many times in the last several years and I like it--never had any problems (including security). Haven't been to the former Lady Luck.

My friends and I really enjoy The D. Just for reference, we are all guys around 30. It is a more lively environment than many other casinos: loud music, dancing girls, and the huge Longbar. If you are looking for or at least OK with that vibe, I think you'd enjoy it.

I have yet to go to Downtown Grand so can't speak on it specifically. Based upon some of the reviews I've seen (most notably VegasChatter) it does look like they cut some corners on the rooms. For example, the bathroom doors were clearly recycled and were warped. Still, I think it is worth checking out.

Does your $60 price include the $20 a night resort fee??

Given a choice for roughly the same price i would try the Grand purely cause its brand new and weve stayed at the D (Fitz) several times.

The Grand. The walk is short, the place is awesome and they want your business. Reviews I've read seem to nail it.....stay at the Grand.

If you are a gambler, take into account the Grand has much worse gaming odds than The D.
