Bar: The Laundry Room

Been reading a little bit about The Laundry Room inside Commonwealth downtown. Apparently you need special arrangements just to enter? Anybody have more info? Sounds cool.

Havent been to it, but I think its like a couple we have here in San Diego, a Speakeasy. Like one here I think you text your info then you get an invite back with instruction on what to do. Once there You then enter through a secret door. One down the street from my house here the wall looks like a wall of kegs, but it opens into the Speakeasy called Nobel Experiment from the bar called the Neighborhood.

Yes and it was great. All drinks are $15. You don't go for beers. These are serious craft cocktails. We would definitely go again.

OK...back from Vegas and can report that The Laundry Room was one cool experience. As stated above...you text your date/time to the secret number....and they text you back with instructions. Within a few minutes of arriving at The Commonwealth we got another text asking if we were there. Then a text saying make your way past the bathrooms to the end of the bar and wait there. Did that...and the hostess, Kara, came thru the secret door and led us in. Great atmosphere...very cool room. Danny the bartender was great! Told him what we like and he went to work. The wall of bottles behind him had mostly brands/flavors I had never heard of...but some of the standards. He made super cocktails and put a lot of work into all of them. We had two drinks each...spend about 90 minutes there...and had a really unique time. If you are downtown...find the number,,.and go. It's a really cool room...with GREAT hand crafted cocktails.

Be sure and read the rules inside...no phone calls, no pictures, no standing...can't be loud...don't bring anyone with you that you wouldn't bring into your own home!

I plan to visit here in May. It sounds like a great venue...cool with out any backwards cap-wearing, whooping frat boys. Downtown seems to be benefitting from some really good new bars etc and, whilst it will never be the strip, I think that it's uniqueness gives it an appeal that that the strip wouldn't be able to achieve.

If I lived in Vegas then I would be looking to invest in this neck of the woods!
