Hi
We are thinking of going to Silver Beach Hotel next April. My Husband is a PADI Advanced Open water diver, could anyone tell me what the diving is like and also the name of the Dive School there? Many thanks

Not sure about diving from the hotel. You will find numerous dive outfits throughout the island.
Check the following link which has information about the Mauritian diving association and its various members.
Thank you.
What do you think is the best time of year to go to the Island, trying to decide as Hubby will be very upset if the diving condition are not good. He isn't a beach person like me!!
Have a look at the following link. As Mauritius is in the southern hemisphere with a tropical climate.
Summer is from Nov - April. You get hot weather but also rainfall.
June - Sept, its still warm but it can be cold and windy in the eastern part of the island and you can still get rain.
I am going in early May, and am experiencing problems finding a good, but reasonably priced, dive centre. There only seem to be a small number of centres around the East coast, and they all want £50 per dive!! As I usually do 15-20 dives during a 2 week vacation that adds up to a lot of money, and given that even the most expensive price I've ever paid is just under £30 it seems a bit OTT.
Anyway, is anyone can advise of a local outfit who don't charge the earth, then I'd be extremely appreciative. - did your husband find anywhere?
I have the same problem. The cheapest I have found is Easy Dive at €43 per dive (about £38) which has pretty good reviews on Tripadvisor also. I think diving here is pretty expensive unfortunately.
I have been in touch with Ocean Spirit up in Pereybere, and for a 10 dive pack its 250 Euros. They've been really good with communications, and will even come and pick me up - its about 50 minutes away, and of course they will charge, but it still works out cheaper than even 43 Euros.
The diving is apprently better up there - less drifts (which just doesn't go well with underwater photography), but I'm just not sure that I want to spend 2 hours in a car every day when I'm on vacation.
I'm actually considering contacting the travel company and trying to change hotels, or leaving it until I'm there and then scout around???
