Where to stay with options running out? Cape Trib/Daintree

We like the idea of being close to the boardwalks and being as north into the Cape Trib area as possible without a 4WD. Unfortunately, though, our only Cape Trib options seem to be the safari tents at Jungle Lodge (not PK’s Jungle Village) and Cape Tribulation Camping. Would it be worth it to stay in safari tents in either place? We’re not fussy but want to make sure we can get a decent night’s sleep in a room that’s not disgusting. Since there are no reviews posted of Jungle Lodge, can anyone provide any opinions?

Our other options are

Lync Haven’s

Red Mill House

Crocodylus

Farmstay (but may be booked; no response yet)

Daintree Escape

Heritage Lodge

Daintree Manor

Coral Sea Views

Epiphyte

Or would you recommend we stay in one of these above places? I cannot find a website for Cow Bay Hotel but would be willing to consider it, too.

Many places (Cow Bay Homestead, Cape Trib Exotic Fruit Farm, Ferntree Rainforest Lodge, etc.) are already booked for our early August dates (something seems to be going on August 2nd). Rainforest Hideaway is closed for renovations. A few other places don’t take seven year-olds or are above our $250 limit. PK’s Village has a cabin for three available, but y’alls reviews have scared me off although the location is tempting. (Even I have my limits!)

I would contact Cape Trib Exotic fruit farm and ask for a recommendation, I'm sure they would be happy to help out. And/or ask if they have a cancellation they could let you know.

It can rain heavily in August so maybe a tent wouldn't be so great with a 7 year old. I was there mid August and there were some misty/rainy days that would make staying in a tent uncomfortable.

Based on the reviews on this site we have booked into the Daintree Rainforest Retreat Motel - this might not be far enough north for you but it isn't on your list and maybe worth a look.

Daintree Wilderness Lodge gets very good reviews and is in a very good location to access the walks and beaches. It certainly is worth the drive to Cooktown but a 4WD is necessary, can be done in a day.

Big thanks. Daintree Wilderness Lodge doesn't take kids. Cape Trib Farmstay responded and yes, they have a room, so will probably go with that but won't make a final decision until hubby can review the (dwindling) choices.

We have just returned from a trip to Daintree. We stayed at Coral Sea Views and it was just wonderful. Vaughan was so welcoming. He has lovely cabins with hammocks out on the verandahs.. we just lay there relaxing looking out over the rainforest and mountain. There's a pool and a lovely BBQ area.

It is at the bottom end of the Daintree but we found driving the 20 mins or so no problem up to the top end enjoying the wildlife as we went ( cassowarys, lizards and such ).

We're booked into the Rainforest Retreat Motel - you don't mention it anywhere and I think all the reviews were good or we wouldn't have booked.

The furthest north would be The Beach House. It is safari tent style accommodation (solid floor and bottom half of walls and canvas roof). It caters to everyone from backpackers to families, but is nice and quiet (not a party place like PK's). Nice little restaurant too. It is a little out of the way for some attractions (2km north of Cape Trib by road- is dirt road but easily driveable most of the year), but most tours pick up from there, or if you have a car it is fine. You can walk along the beach to Cape Tribulation (beach and actual Cape, not the town) in about a half hour or less.

The Farmstay is close to Cape Trib and within walking distance of Cape Trib Beach (Kulki), the Bat House, Dubuji Boardwalk and Myall Beach. It is also close to the shops where any other tours would be able to pick you up from.

I have never been into the Jungle Lodge so can't help you there, but it is close to Cape Trib. Crocodylus, Coral Sea Views and Cow Bay Hotel are 30 minutes or more south of Cape Trib and the Heritage Lodge is 25 minutes south so not very far north if that was your preferred location.

Big thanks for your feedback. We look forward to our stay at the Cape Trib Farmstay. Discovered that popular places like the The Beach House and the Exotic Fruit Farm book at least six months in advance for the high season.
