Finding suitable accomodation

Finding suitable accomodation
Save

I am visiting MD Anderson Cancer Centre for a clinical attachment sometime in November 2007. Having problem in deciding which is a convenient and safe accommodation for me to travel to MD Anderson and get to downtown. Anyone out there can give me some ideas for someone from Singapore? Budget below $100.

Thanks.

If you are a patient at MD Anderson, speak to the hospital about staying at the Rotary House - it is a "hotel" just for patients and their family and attached to the hospital

Which location of extended stay? There are several locations, some which are much closer than others. I know someone who comes to Houston for business and always stays at the extended stay on Westheimer near the Galleria and they are very happy with the size of rooms and well kept property.

Our daughter is an outpatient at Children's Hospital and we have tried several hotels in the area. By far the best for price, cleanliness and convenience is Best Western Medical Area. Our patient rate is $79 a night, so not sure how much yours would be.

Included is free parking, free breakfast, and in-room refrigerator and microwave. Free parking is a biggie since parking at Children's runs $8-10 per visit. BW is also a block from the light rail stop.

Please, whatever you decide, run it by us. We have experienced some icky accommodations.

I work at MD Anderson and the Rotary House is very nice. I think it runs about $79ish a night. You don't have to be a patient to stay there. It is absolutely most convenient. If you are a female traveling alone, it is by far the safest.

If you are staying for a month or so, there are apartments close by that rent furnished monthly. There are a lot of medical students, etc living in that area. You may even sub-lease from craigslist.com

Most of the hotels and apartments close by have shuttle service to the medical center. Although, the medical center itself isn't exactly a wonderful part of town. You sort of go in and out of good and bad.
