We (2 Adults & 4 kids - ranging from 3 years to 12 years) have just returned from Cambrils Park Resort after staying there for the last 2 weeks of July. We booked through Canvas Holidays.

In summary the Cambils Park Resort site was ran brilliantly and is great.

BUT, the location of Canvas Aloha accommodation is the worst on the site. It was right beside the bins and a very noisy road. Generally the road is tolerable for a lot of the plots, but the Canvas Plot was right beside a roundabout and you had the noise of motorbikes, etc accelerating out of the roundabout late at night and very early in morning.

When booking, we specifically asked for a plot that will not be beside the external road and bins. Canvas appeared to ignore this as we were put in a plot on the noisiest part of the external road and beside the bins. This all a bit surprising as you can book now for next year directly with the site and chose your plot - Why couldn't Canvas chose there Plot or did they know already that they had this plot left and decided it to sell it to the effectively blind anyway?

We will probably get the usual response from Canvas that this is outside of there control, blah, blah, blah.....

Even if Canvas had a Site Courier present, or, any sort of customer care, they would have alerted us to the accommodation location that we were getting. At that stage nothing may have been able to have been done about it, but it appeared that Canvas had the view - to take what your getting and tough luck. (Noting, Euocamp had a Courier very regular in-and-about the site and dealing with their Clients - we even once heard her arguing with the Site about getting Clients moved. Unsure of the result).

The only saving grace was that Cambrils Resort ran an excellent site (not ran by Canvas).

The entertainment and entertainers are the best we've experienced (this is the 5th site we've visited). Nothing appears to be to much for any of the staff around the site. It is good vale on the site compared to other sites we have visited. Our kids loved the organised sports and activities and made a lot of friends on the site. Our 3 year old loved the site mascot "Parky" who was around a few times every day and always made sure to give time to the kids with high 5s & hugs.

We hired bikes for a day and cycled out to Cambrils Port Lighthouse. We hired the bikes near the beach (5-10min walk from Cambril Park) as the bikes were cheaper there and we felt that our younger kids would struggle to get the bikes back upto the Site after the days cycling. In hindsight we would do the same again and they had a better selection of bikes that the Site.

We ate on site a few times and found all of the restaurants to have good service, to be of good quality and ok value. We ate in Barcelona port twice. Once on the Harbour front and once on the back streets. The food and service and price was much better on the back streets.

The site supermarket was good and reasonably priced but the Supermarket (max 5 min walk)outside the Aloha Bungalow Reception Entrance (located beside the Roundabout) was slightly cheaper but the selection was better and the fruit and veg was MUCH fresher and nicer (bring ur own bags or they charge). The site bakery was good value and always had fresh bread, cakes, etc.

The local beach is only a 10-15min stroll from the site. We never used the free site courtesy bus. The beach is nice and sandy. The sea is generally calm for young kids and has great waves on windy days.

We travelled from Barcelona El Prat Airport to Cambrils Park using Resorthoppa and it took 1hr 20mins to get from the Airport to Site and 2hrs 10mins (incl a 20min wait for bus) to get from Site to Airport. We were very close to originally booking with Bus Plana, we are now glad we didn't as we would have regretted having to lug the bags and the kids from the bus stop to the Site (15-20min walk with bags and kids) in the heat and unsure as to where we were going. (Tip: download Resorthoppa App for getting ur return bus time). We would defo use Resorthoppa again.

All-in-all we will definitely return to Cambrils Park, but I will book directly with the Site early (who will allow you to chose your plot) and not with Canvas Holidays.

As a Canvas user we have never had a problem with them, but have never stayed at this site, we have stayed at it's sister site Sanguli which was amazing. If you are on Twitter or Facebook, post your canvas findings with them, as I have always found them helpful....

There was no courier on site? I'd presumed that there would be. I found canvass more expensive than keycamp ( now eurocamp).

Booking direct seems to be the way to go to get a good location but you need to book the previous year as soon as it opens up bookings, they go fast.

There was NO Canvas Rep (Courier) on site at any stage throughout the full duration of the Holiday.

Agreed, you defo need to book the previous year. They were already taking deposits for 2015 when we were on site.

I have already filled out the Canvas survey sheet that was sent to me and made me feelings clear.

To be clear, the location of the Canvas accommodation that we were given on the site was located in an area of the site that we clearly asked (on more than one occasion) not to be located. Noting that you can book your exact accommodation (if available) on site for the following year.

In my opinion, I would not book with Canvas again as they appeared to ignore our request and proceeded with the booking.

This year we are using Siesta at Playa Bara as we found that Canvas to be very expensive now...

We have found that Cambrils Park to book straight with themselves very expensive. As we was going to take our nieces.

This is there rates: http://www.cambrilspark.es/en/prices-and-bookings/bungalow-rates-2014?set_language=en
