Alappuzha forum We are planning one day trip to Alleppey. We will be reaching around 12 Noon and return next day morning 08 AM. We are not planning to stay in houseboat overnight however want to do houseboat trip for half day. We see that most trip start around 11 AM.
What are suggestions?
- Are there trip later in day?
- Should we book in advance or book when we go there
- How to go about booking these?
- Who are good operators?
- What are charges like?

Call them or shoot a mail and get all the info you want. Enjoy Kerala-God's own country.
You can have a day cruise by houseboat from 11 AM to 05 PM. May costs around Rs 5000 to Rs 5500.

You can contact the lemon tree resorts. They provide houseboats for day tours as well as overnight tours. Hope it helps.

Just returned from Alleppey and if you are not staying the night on a houseboat then I recommend hiring a shikara boat.
We paid 300Rs per hour (including driver) and the boat could seat upto 6 people - we did a 4 hour cruise which was sufficient. Included a stop for a snack and a walk around a beautiful paddy field area.
The shikaras can go places that the houseboats cant as they are much smaller - just turn up at Alleppey boat jetty and you will see boats and drivers hanging around waiting for customers. I recommend starting early in the morning so you are out before the houseboat traffic begins!
