i've seen County Line BBQ, but looking for any reccomendations/suggestions.
The best stuff is off the Riverwalk (Rudy's, etc). County Line is probably the best on the Riverwalk itself.
Certainly not a mention for best in San Antonio, but on the Riverwalk is County Line..Tony Romas in Rivercenter mall has the best ribs(on Riverwalk)..
County Line has very good BBQ not excellent but very good + it's the only 1 on the RW.
Eh, I wouldn't do BBQ on the Riverwalk (speaking as an Austinite how LOVES BBQ.) What else do you have a hankering for?
You really need to leave the Riverwalk for BBQ. The only place is County Line. For Ribs I would suggest you travel to Euless, TX and eat at Main Street BBQ. The there walls are loaded down with rib championships
I know of no
great BBQ on the Riverwalk. They cater to tourist who do not know better. If you want real Texas BBQ-then hop in your car and drive south of Austin, in Driftwood, Tx. and eat at The Salt Lick BBQ. It is one of my favorites and I am a Texan.
You would be better off eating Tex-Mex along the Riverwalk, that is what the locals eat there. Most great BBQ lives in the small towns our out in the country. IMO.
I know hubby would love BBQ on our visit.
How long would it take to drive to Driftwood from SA?
Is it really worth the drive if you are staying in SA?
The Salt Lick is very good (Yes, its been on Food Network). But its not the easiest place to get to. Driftwood is in the middle of nowhere. You you need to drive almost to Austin, its around 60 miles each way.
There are several places in Lockhart and Luling that are great.
If you do not want to drive far. I would recommend Rudy's In Leon Springs (its been on Travel Channel as a top BBQ place in the USA) or The Smokehouse, its only only BBQ place in SA that listed as best in the State by Texas Monthly (not that they are the final word on BBQ).
