My friend and I have just come back from PDC and were recommended these 2 places by a lady staying at our apartments.

Just wanted to pass on the recommendations.

Cafe del Carmen is above the Spar shop to the east of the resort (Just where road is closed at moment). Absolutely fantastic in here - the place wouldn't have looked out of place in a large city in the UK. Fab cocktails, great service, fantastic decor, interesting menu. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Also, we went to La Ola restaurant just by the casino. This had great food too. Underneath is Cafe la Ola which has a small pool outside and nicely covered sun loungers. Inside it looked quite Mediterranean - all dark colours.

Had a great time in both places - a bit of a difference from the bars around Centro Atlantico - bit more classy.

Also recommend the Dubliner - nice, new looking Irish bar with 3 guys singing/playing instruments each night - Great!

if you are standing in front of the casino looking away from the sea then turn right and walk along. It's downstairs about a 5 min walk from casino.

I just wanted to add on La Ola, one of the most beautiful places in PDC. The views are to die for and the food is beautiful. Would go back just for the view. Had dinner here 3 nights last week and then one day we had lunch in Cafe La Ola below. They have sunbeds, a pool you can go down into the sea or have a massage and get a cocktail. The staff are really friendly too. Would recommend it to anyone!

just shows how opinions differ!

as it is a lanis i would never advise anyone to eat at la ola..although i agree its decor is stunning.it certainly isnt the best in pdc as clare claimed.

lanis are like a slightly upmarket version of mcdonalds..always trying to expand and take over the island.apparantly the owner is currently in jail which tells you something.all lanis are colorful tourist traps with bad service, average food and expensive prices.i could give you loads of warning stories but here is just one, a couple were advised to try lanis by a rep..they found an inch long metal bolt in their food, and got no refund or apology.

It's true that la ola is definately worth a visit.

I agree with trevor that lanis is a non interesting food chain and not worth a visit but la ola most certainly is.Some of the things on the menu are exceptional(as long as you dont go for the european menu, there are two),its in a lovely setting and is a brilliant place to visit in the evening as well as they make great cocktails......
