are there any good walks around Pefkos/Lindos area?
We for one dont tend to do any other walks other than into Pefkos at about 8pm at night as its just far too hot! The only place we walk to is the pool or the beach.
Have walked to lardos from pefkos, flat but on the road most of the way takes about an hour, lindos is a bit more hilly so on the advise of others did not atempt it, but know others have done, also depends when you are going july august would be to hot, we go in september ,even then go in the morning or late afternoon probably to risky in the dark either way. I like to walk whilst on holiday get boared sat on a sun bed. For a small walk go up cardiac hill and go to dimmitris, great views from the bar and you can have a cold beer as well. We love pefkos the only let down for me is the lack of walks, everything else is perfect.Edited: 04 June 2012, 18:34
High there. I remember in 2010 walking along a coastal path. All I can remember was going past Kavos Mare taverna, up a slight incline and turning right by the villa Pink Floyd used to own (I think). After that I think I came to Pefkos Village Resort and took a right. There was a coastal path there which seemed to take me out of Pefkos, towards Lindos. Didn't get very far though as hubby had left me to it going back to the beach. Then to top it all a herd of goats came from nowhere. Needless to say turned around, so don't know how far you could go.
I am also looking for possible walks in the area. I have come across this one from Archangelos which is on the bus route.
Others on the site include Petaloudes, the valley of the butterflies and walks around the Akramitis massif near Monolithos which are more accessible from Rhodes Town. As we will also spend a few days there it may be possible for us to do one or other of these.
This site has a number of walks on its drop down list on the left of the page including the three above and this walk from Vlicha to Lindos.
If anyone can add other walks I would be grateful.
I have done a good 'beach walk' quite a few times. You can start from AG Thomas Beach which is situated just outside the main Pefki area in the Lardos direction. You then walk along the beach/shore past Plakia beach, past the Coralli aparments. The beaches at this point are quiet and sometimes expansive. There are a few rocks to negotiate just past the Coralli but no dramas. You carry on past the Illysion Hotel. In parts it can be a little heavy going where the sand is soft and I would suggest doing it between 9 and 11.30 or 4 and 5.30. The beach will take u right down to the Lindos Princess Hotel which is actually situated in the Lardos beach area ( dont let the name Lindos put u off). Takes up to an hr n a half with loads of places to stop for a drink on the way (ie hotels/tavernas). Upon arriving at Lindos Princess, u could walk inland for 20 mins to Lardos village (meal/drink) and get a taxi/bus back to Pefki.
Something a little different
cheers for that, had a quick look at the lindos one, where does it start? how far from pefkos is lindos and is there a good walk between the two?
I have just found, what I assume to be, the same walk on pdf with a little more detail, Lindos is adjacent to Pefkos but I believe there is not an option to walk there other than on the road but we will definitely look for an alternative.
Thanks Mart, will give that a go.
Kids: There is a walking trail that takes u from Lindos to Pefki (around the back way if u pardon the expression) which mainly avoids the road (and vice versa). It starts at the back of Krana plateau in Lindos and goes overland so to speak. I am not sure of the details as I have never done it, but it does exist. There have been previous posts about this particular walk and if I recall correctly, the likes of Marcus C n Xeno contributed. I think Xeno has done the walk but apparently became apprehensive of the local wildlife ie, man eating goats, wild hares that stare n dogs that bark etc :-) Bless him!
? man eating goats? ho ho ho, maybe send david bellamay there for species finding?
Send him to Arches at chucking out time, plenty of specimens to be found there, often crawling and often without the power of speech!! You know who u are!! :-)
PS, he would find it hard to track me down, I can b very elusive!
