As soon as we arrived at Maroc Lodge we knew we would not want to leave. We originally booked for 3 nights but stayed for 8. Why go anywhere else when you have found a little bit of heaven?
There is little to attract tourists to Amizmiz town, but Maroc Lodge is a different story. This is an oasis of calm and tranquillity where we could not help but unwind. Your senses are stimulated by -stunning views; a beautiful garden where you can find places to hide; birdsong and the occasional Berber song from across the valley; and the taste of fabulous food from fresh local sources. It does not matter that there are no local restaurants to chose from – can’t believe anything could rival the food here. The resident chef would cook to order, but we preferred to be surprised and were never disappointed.
There is no need to leave Maroc Lodge –but should you wish to do so it is a great location for visiting Marrakech and trekking in the Atlas Mountains. Maroc Lodge offer guided walks which come highly recommended, but we had pre-booked 3 nights tracking in Berber villages with www.berberadventures.com. A total contrast to our experience in Maroc Lodge but an experience to treasure.
We had not seen accommodation like this before. Lodge / villa / apartment do not really describe it. There are a small number of lodges sleeping 2-4 people –each providing completely private accommodation and each (we looked round them all!) spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and furnished with luxurious fittings and furniture.
The service is personalised, impeccable and discrete – nothing is too much trouble.
Maroc Lodge is above our normal price range – but the experience is value for money.
If you are after nightlife, bright lights and partying – don’t come here – leave it to the rest of who enjoy tranquillity.

Such a fantastic place to go. 1 hour in a cab from Marrakesh, and to a different pace, and to Berber land - literally a higher level. We loved the "room" we stayed in - actually a 2-bed house with a lounge/dining room and open fire. We mostly took our meals in the dining room of our "room", served by Monsieur Le Chef and the attentive waiter. Every meal was local, tasty and beautifully presented. 3 course meals three times a day made me put on half a stone though.
But there was a chance to walk it off. Our family of 4 went on 2 trips with kind and interesting Latifa. One for 1/2 a day with the children on mules up into the mountain outside Amizmiz, stopping at a potter's shed. And one day on a hair-raising bus ride up into the real Berber mountains. No electricity, no cars, just mobile phones and the occasional bus filled with people and chickens coming from / to Amizmiz market. And a gentle walk for another hour or 2, along paths and riverbeds to get to the restuarant (actually Latifa's cousin Fatima's house).
Go to Maroc Lodge now before everyone finds it.

  • Liked — Bernice, David and Bruno, the chef, the waiter, the gardener, and the man who made the fire, and Latifa's trips.

We stumbled upon that place by accident following the little white signs. Due to time we only stayed for 2 nights but thoroughly enjoyed the hosipitality, the setting, the fantastic lodges and the views. It is a great base for day excursions or for simply lounging around by the pool or inside by the fire. I strongly recommend that place to everyone who enjoys a few quiet days away from Marrakesh to explore the Atlas mountains and to relax in those wonderful lodges in a beautiful setting.

Moroc Lodge is hands down the best hotel I have ever stayed in! Set in the foothills of the Atlas and just outside of a small and charming village called Amizmiz about 60 Km from Marrakech.

The property is gorgeous. We stayed at a villa overlooking the pool. It was quite, awfully pretty and very artfully decorated.

The meals are just superb. Made with ingredients grown on property (Olive oil, herbs, fruits, Etc.). The staff is very well trained and the service at the dinner table is exquisite. The staff will truly make you feel like royalty!

There is so much to rave about. This is such a honey mooners spot, a hidden treasure!
Take a look at their web site and you’ll see for yourself:

Don't be put off by the high rates. They might be able to give you a better deal on the room and meals during the low season. Contact the lodge in person.
