As soon as we arrived at Maroc Lodge we knew we would not want to leave. We originally booked for 3 nights but stayed for 8. Why go anywhere else when you have found a little bit of heaven?
There is little to attract tourists to Amizmiz town, but Maroc Lodge is a different story. This is an oasis of calm and tranquillity where we could not help but unwind. Your senses are stimulated by -stunning views; a beautiful garden where you can find places to hide; birdsong and the occasional Berber song from across the valley; and the taste of fabulous food from fresh local sources. It does not matter that there are no local restaurants to chose from – can’t believe anything could rival the food here. The resident chef would cook to order, but we preferred to be surprised and were never disappointed.
There is no need to leave Maroc Lodge –but should you wish to do so it is a great location for visiting Marrakech and trekking in the Atlas Mountains. Maroc Lodge offer guided walks which come highly recommended, but we had pre-booked 3 nights tracking in Berber villages with www.berberadventures.com. A total contrast to our experience in Maroc Lodge but an experience to treasure.
We had not seen accommodation like this before. Lodge / villa / apartment do not really describe it. There are a small number of lodges sleeping 2-4 people –each providing completely private accommodation and each (we looked round them all!) spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and furnished with luxurious fittings and furniture.
The service is personalised, impeccable and discrete – nothing is too much trouble.
Maroc Lodge is above our normal price range – but the experience is value for money.
If you are after nightlife, bright lights and partying – don’t come here – leave it to the rest of who enjoy tranquillity.
