My partner and 2 year old son stayed at Twitchen Farm over a very wet weekend in March this year.
We have stayed at a B&B in the area the previous August so had something to compare it to. Its a lovely farmhouse in a great location but was lacking in atmosphere. Perhaps it was because there were only a couple of other guests there at the time. Most of the time we felt we were the only ones there.
Whereas the other farm actively encouraged guests to join them and collect eggs, see the new borns etc,. we had to actually ask the owners if we could see the farm animals which turned out to be a couple of horses and a dog. When you have a 2 year old who loves animals, this was a bit of a disappointment!
On the plus side, the food is fantastic. We ate one night at the Black Venus pub down the road, and other night at the farmhouse, and the farmhouse won hands down. Massive portions, good value and wonderfully cooked.
As there are so many B&Bs in the area, it is doubtful that we would return, but don't let this put you off, it is a lovely place and perfect for some country air and good food.
