“Great place to stay if visiting Bath”

The Plaine

19 Feb 2008

Stayed in the Plaine last weekend with my girlfirend. The Plaine is located 15mins drive South of Bath in a small village with 2 really old pubs, the George and Fleurs De Lys. The owners are incredibly welcoming and helpful. The bedroom we had was nicely decorated with ensuite shower/wc/sink.

Would definitely stay here again.

“Good location...not too far from Bath City Centre & the fabulous American Museum”

Our stay at The Plaine got off to a bit of a bad start... we left home and entered the postcode of the Plaine into our sat nav only to get completely lost. Tom Tom took us into Bath city centre. We have since found out on our return that the post code on their website in incorrect it should be BA2 7LT NOT BA2 6LT! However, once we finally arrived at The Plaine we were given a very warm welcome by Stephanie. The Plaine was in the delightful village of Norton St Philip. Our room and en suite was spotless and very comfortable. The full english breakfast was sumptous as described and set us up for our busy days christmas shoppping and sight seeing. Stephanie was very helpful recommending places to go and was the perfect host. The only negative was our room was on the ground floor right next to a road junction which got very busy and noisy from about 6am.

To begin with the reservation: despite my bad english, Stephanie has always been patient on the phone. We were able to book by wiring just one week before the arrival.

The reception was really warm! You feel immediately at home!

The room: my first words were "Wow! It looks like a little palace!". There was a beautiful, super comfy double four-poster bed; the single bed wasn't that great, but still, my sister-in-law slept very good inside, and we won't complain since there was no extra cost for the third person.

The bathroom: very classy and very pleasant.

The night: we slightly heard the road noise in the morning but we still slept well.

The breakfast: a real english breakfast, it was my first salted breakfast, I found it delicious!

Finally, the small village of Norton St. Philip was absolutely charming.

We staid over just for one night in this guest room but it was, without exaggeration, one of the best moments of our trip in England.
No more hesitation, go ahead!

“our place of sanity”

The Plaine

16 Dec 2007

my fiance and i discovered this delightful place in august quite by accident on a quick trip through Bath down to Dorset. We were so taken by the place that we planned a return trip in November-this time for 2 nights. As before we were welcomed by stephanie and giles with open arms and were immediately put at ease and starting our relaxation within minutes! We had a delicious breakfast the next morning before following stephanies advice to take the bus into bath for a spot of shopping and a visit to the christmas market.
Stephanie and giles have now become firm friends of ours and we loook forward to many more visits in the future. We both lead very busy lives and its a wonderful place to visit in order to totally de-stress and catch up with ourselves.
Keep up the good work both of you.

“lovely”

The Plaine

2 Dec 2007

The Plaine is a lovely 3 bed B&B in the village of norton st phillips, somerset (on the outskirts of bath). The village is very pretty and picturesque, with lots of 16th century buildings.
The Plaine itself is lovely and very cosy. my mum and I stayed in the princess room which had everything we needed and we especially liked the hot stand alone shower (however the wallpaper was coming off the wall alittle bit because there was no ventilation in the bathroom).
the owner, stephanie booked us a table at the fleur de lys which is directly opposite and serves lovely pub food, with an open fire and very good value for money (there is also another restaurant directly opposite which is meant to be very nice as well but a little more expensive).
Stephanie suggested we get a bus into bath instead of a taxi (£15 one way!) the bus stop is right outside the plaine and takes you to the centre of bath in about 10 mins for about £5 return.
Bath is beautiful and we went the opening weekend of the xmas market (30th November '07) which i think was a bit of a mistake because we could hardly move for the thousands of people.
we were also suprised how small even all the high street shops are , which wasn't a good combination with so many people about.

I would highly recommend this B&B as its so quaint and lovely and much cheaper than staying in the centre of bath. Stephanie couldnt do enough to help us and she was always an email or phone call away when we needed her (before and during our stay).
