After a long day of driving we were glad to find this large hotel with lots of period touches combined with some luxury.
We stayed midweek in early May, in a twin room on the first floor with a view onto the river. The room was large and clean with a modern bathroom. There was also a TV and coffee making facilities, while the Scottish bottled water was also a nice touch. The lovely old furniture in the room was an unexpected surprise which added to the atmosphere of the place.
Breakfast is in the restaurant looking out over the river and to the bridge. This is a picture perfect location, and the breakfast options were good with lots of fresh fruit and good hearty breakfast foods available. We enjoyed chatting to the scottish lady working there about the area, however the rest of the non-scottish waiting staff were dour and seemed in a hurry to be somewhere else.
Kenmore is a great location and the isolation adds to the charm. There is so much natural beauty in this area and we would love to come back, if only to visit the distillery just up the road

We wanted a night away to try out the Canadian Canoe on Loch Tay, and having stayed at the Kenmore 20 years ago, we went back to relive the experience. Perthshire is wonderful, and the region around Kenmore charming. The location of the hotel between the Loch and the river is spectacular. The reception is friendly, and a lovely log fire was crakling in the corner. We were then told that our accomodation was in the annex which was situated across the road.(no one had informed us of this when booking). No porterage assistance was offerred, and we went across to what could only be described as an old building in need of TLC across the road. The room resembled a bunkhouse, with twin (convert to 4) beds, and bunks in the corner. Lighting was pathetic, the wardrobe smelt awful inside, and looked like it had just come from a junk auction. The bathroom had a new suite, but no shampoo in the dispenser and a near empty toilet roll on the holder. After complaining, the beds were joined toform a double.
Dinner was expensive but good, and had a wide choice of local produce. The wine list was avarage with the usual UK markup. Breakfast was also not bad, but some croisants etc. would have been appreciated when the price is brought into bearing.
On checkout, I mentioned my concerns to the receptionist, who although having worked for the hotel for 4 years, was unaware of the situation in room 26!
As a Scotsman, I had thought that this level of mediocraty had stopped in the 70's, and I feel sorry that foreign visitors to my country are exposed to levels of care like this.
A pot of paint, some basic furnishings and some caring staff might raise the standard and make this a truly Scottish experience with real hospitality.
I might visit again in another 20 years, but in future trips to Loch Tay, I'll find one of the many other hotels in the region.

My wife and I were slightly nervous about our stay after reading some of the negative reviews. We stayed for 2 nights Bed, Breakfast and Evening meal over the Easter Weekend. We got a heavily discounted rate through a web site that specialises in LATE ROOM bookings....I would recommend searching via that site. The room that we were given was in the annex, the room could certainly have done with a little updating, the carpet was on the grubby side. Overall though the room served it's purpose. The meals in the hotel were of a high standard and very well presented. I would recommend booking a table with a view of the river, it was fantastic!! All the waiting and reception staff were very friendly and attentive. The location of this hotel and all the staff made this a very memorable stay.

The hotel fully met our expectations of a Scottish country side inn. Charming buildlng and location in the small village of Kenmore. Very pleasant bar. Dinner in the restaurant was quite disappointing, but the full Scottish breakfast was very good. Rooms are comfortable and quite nice size. Highly recommended.
