The moment we were picked up at the airport we felt the stress leave our bodies as we were greeted by Ron. The casual bus ride to the resort from the airport was easy and the
natural beauty of Belize was on display. The resort itself has a 'wow factor'. The grounds are beautiful, the cabanas are comfortable and charming and the meeting and dining area provided and enjoyable environement to start and finish your day. You certainly get a sence that the hosts and staff take a great deal of pride in the resort and endeavor to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
Every morning we ate a well prepared breakfast before we embarked on our adventure.
The day trip to Tikal and the Pottery Cave were certainly highlights. The quality of the guides at both locals were extremely informative and entertaining. Tikal will provide the most hardened traveller with memories of a lifetime. The Pottery Cave is extremely interesting and historic in its own right and should not be missed. For the adventure seeker, don't pass on the kayak trip down the river (we did it twice). The river is manageble for any novice and the kayaks are big and safe and you get to see rural Belize life up close.
The days always ended with a fine meal, time shared with new friends and some refreshments.
The evening spent with Ron and Kim at their hosienda was wonderful. You realize quickly that being gracious hosts comes quite naturally for Ron and Kim.
Mopan River Resort provides a holiday for those looking for something different .This is not a trip for couch potatoes, it is a trip for people who enjoy natural beauty, history and touching it up close. This may be the best location to experience the Mayan culture and still have all the comforts of a great resort. We salute the owners and staff for creating a fantastic experience in a stunning location!!

The grounds are absolutley beautiful. The owners Ron and Kim make you feel like family. At first it was different to have designated eating times. The only thing I missed was room service at night if I wanted a munchie. The meals are prepared and every night is a different theme night which is wonderful. The Belize omelet in the morning is the BEST!!!! You have to be open minded about eating like family because you all eat at the same time and with each other every day. The Cabana's are very clean and the room service who does laundry for you is excellant. The drinks are Great and the Massage lady Petra is Great!!! Well worth the money. Eveyday is planned for you if you choose to participate and we did it all and no regrets. Ron and Kim are the best hosts ever and always making sure you are ok. TheCabana's make you feel like you are home and not in a hotel and the ceiling lights at night are very relaxing or romantic. This was a very nice vacation we would for sure go back. We have always done the ocean vacation's but I must say if you want just want to kick back enjoy your days but at night just relax this is the place to go. I give it a 10 plus!!!

Mopan River Resort is an amazing place that should be experienced! Kim and Ron are the owners and make you feel welcomed and at home from the moment you walk off the plane. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food was amazing! Every morning Kim was in the kitchen making each guest their own special breakfast (the French toast is to die for). The grounds are beautiful and make you feel like you stepped into paradise. Our cabana was quite large and so comfortable. The trips were amazing, so well planned and interesting. Overall it was a wonderful experience! I hope to return some day with friends.

We spent a week at Mopan River Resort in March. We chose the resort because we wanted to have an adventure and explore the country, but needed help with the logistics (and, most importantly, wanted to come home to a good meal and a comfortable room at the end of the day). MRR took care of all of the above and more!

The owners, Kim and Ron, are dedicated to making your stay as comfortable as possible. They are always around to make sure that you're enjoying yourself and your cocktail glass is full. They go above and beyond in accommodating any requests the guests might have. Above all else, they know the country inside and out. Any site to which they send you is one that they have personally visited and vetted. The result is that you enjoy yourself as much as possible with no hassle whatsoever.

Even though the nightly price may seem expensive, MRR truly is an incredible value. The price includes your room, all meals, all liquor/beer/soft drinks, daily excursions with a guide, transportation to and from the airport, and non-scheduled activities (such as kayaking in the afternoons). Most of these would be incremental costs at any other hotel. You do need to bring your own cash for site entrance fees -- and for all the great shopping there is to do! If you like souvenirs, bring more money than they tell you. Belize has so much to offer.

The grounds are beautiful, as are the cabanas. The staff put much effort into keeping everything as clean as possible. I'm excited to hear that they're planning to clear some hiking trails on the property itself, as right now your main access is in the landscaped acres and it would be great to do some exploring. Each meal was creative, unique and thoughtfully prepared. My only slight complaint is that many lunch and appetizer options were fried -- you're doing so much walking that the healthiness doesn't matter too much, but if you have a sensitive stomach you may want to let them know beforehand. They will accommodate any dietary restriction.

Each of the excursions was unique and interesting; in some cases (such as the wonderful Che Chem Ha pottery cave), we saw things that would not have been available to us as independent tourists. Although the main guide, Victor, is very knowledgeable, he has been at the job so long that he has (perhaps understandably) lost some of his enthusiasm. We were excited about everything, and would have liked that energy to be reciprocated. Nonetheless, we were grateful to him for everything he shared with us.

We've been back for four weeks now and have talked about the trip every single day. It was our first time in Belize, and at MRR, but we do not anticipate that it was the last. We can't wait to go back!
