Whilst Nago / Torbole is a beautifull area of Lake Garda the Hotel Continental does not do the area justice. The Hotel is dated with a very crowded swimming area that is at the back of the hotel and accessed via fire exit lined with dirty old bits of carpet. The food at the hotel was passable however the dining room was cramped and it often felt as if you were eating in a school canteen, in my opinion the communual areas of the hotel were to small for the number of guests accommodated resulting in very cramped surroundings.

Our request for a hotel transfer was immediately accepted by our tour operator and as it turned out 4 other guests requested transfers during the same week.

I consider myself fairly well travelled and have stayed in some very basic accommodation none of which claimed to be anything special, however the Hotel Continental's 4 star status is entirely misleading and undeserved.

Two of us stayed here for 1 week, had super room with fantastic views. Food was good and included free buffet lunch and tea-time cake and drink, (Crystal lakes and mountains). Friendly English speaking staff, swimming pool has an outstanding location and everything kept clean and tidy. Free use of bikes, there are bike routes from the village, 200yds away, with a couple of shops and bars and great to wlk around after dinner. There is a lovely walk to Torbole and on to Riava and the lake down an old Roman road there is even a walk from the back of the hotel and don't forget the binoculars.

I have just returned from Hotel Continental in Nago- Torbole. I would defy anyone to find fault with the hotel. The food was first class (four course with wine and water). The staff generally spoke good english, and went out of their way to ensure that everyone enjoyed themselves. In addition, on my last morning, they even opened the restaurant early to ensure that travellers had a good breakfast prior to departure.

There is a minibus that takes people down to Torbole at 0930 hours everyday, and returns at 1600 hours. Throughout the whole week the transport was NEVER late.

Accommodation was excellent, daily maid service and towels were also changed daily. There is a free safe service in every room.

The food was first class. Throughout the whole holiday I rarely saw any plates being returned with unwanted food on them.

All in all this is a first class hotel which is well worth the rating.

We visited The Hotel Continental in the Lake Garda region for the first time in September 2003 and loved both the hotel and the resort so much, we returned in September 2004. How to describe the beauty of this Italian jewel called Lake Garda escapes me. Its stunning beauty leaves me speechless. If you are looking for regimented rows upon rows of deckchairs on a beach, this is not for you. I am a bit of a sun worshipper, however, here, I think that every minute lying with my eyes closed sunbathing is a minute wasted. We chose to visit the northern area of the Lake, where the majestic mountains sweep down and touch the shimmering Lake. Torbole is a little fisherman's village situated at the northern most point of the lake, which is so picturesue. The Hotel Continental is situated in the small village of Nago, which is approximately 1.5km uphill from the lakeside town of Torbole. The hotel runs a minibus to and from the lake (once in the morning and returning in the afternoon). It is situated within its own private grounds and the owner, Mrs Tonelli, is there every day to welcome her guests. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel for the past two years, and in fact, have now booked for 2005. The food was delicious, and there were many enjoyable evenings in the downstairs taverna, where there is live music three times per week.
I defy anyone to go to Lake Garda and not be blown away by its serene beauty.
