Just returned 07/09/2005 from a 10 day holiday in the North of Lake Garda. What impressed us most was the litter free environment and chewing gum free pavements. The area lends itself to healthy activities from the evening promenade, longer walks at your own pace along the many cycle/pedestrain pathways of high quality tarmac, with seating areas to break your journey, numerous cycle hire & wind surfing hire outlets.
The local bus service allowed you the chance to walk to the neighbouring villages with the opportunity to take a bus back to base. Average cost of a single bus journey 0.90 euros.
Should you decide to take to the water, the North Lake Ferry system will allow you to choose which of the villages to visit and length of time in each village at a cost of 12.60 euros for a day ticket, allowing you to visit Riva, Torbole, Limone or Malcesine.
We stayed at the 4 star Continental Hotel; one of the Tontelli family run hotels in Nago, where we found the rooms of satisfactory standard. The rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels and bedlinen supplied daily. The staff were attentive. We found the designated dining table allocation for the duration of our stay not to our liking. We did notice a change in the service when a bus party dominated the proceedings in the last days of our holiday. The quiet village location did not lend itself to the after dinner promenade popular in the Mediteranean. Perhaps for those wishing the same standard of hotel, with more on offer in an evening ,they should consider one of the groups Hotels in Riva.
