The Cliff Hotel is in a great position overlooking the sea and away from the hassle of Great Yarmouth. Unfortunately the hotel offers very poor value for a standard double room rack rate of £110.Our room (112) had great views but suffered from damp peeling wallpaper and serious water staining from leaking water. We had to change room when water started pouring into the room from the room above. We were then offered an insulting range of alternative rooms the worst (128) features a view of several walls and the kitchen vent (the room smelt like a chip shop). The mangeress was less than helpfull and made a point of avoiding us, all other members of staff were friendly. The food is average but alas let its self down by serving warm white wine. The breakfast was good and there are 2 nice bars. I would only recomend this hotel if they were to imvest some money on redecorating the rooms and employed some more staff. The hotel suffers from a lack of staff and we were unable to get a sandwich on the afternoon we arrived due to staff shortages. The Elisabeth Hotel group normally offer a very high standard of hotel and this hotel lets them down badly. If you do stay insist on a sea facing room (without the water feature) and bring your own sandwiches!
