We're Ibiza veterans and have been going to the island every year for mini breaks for nearly 10 years now. Normally we are privileged enough to stay in our family's villa, but we booked this hotel as we couldn't one year.
Location: talamanca is a great area. The beach has many restaurants and the water is calm (in some places there can be an odd smell, but 99% of the beach is fab). You can really escape in this particular part of the Island as it is not blighted by party goers.
The hotel: value wise this place is awesome. It was completely refurbished a few years back and has an Ibiza feel to it. Breakfast is grand; nothing to write home about. If you can get a table outside it really is great as you are on top of the sea. The rooms are a smallish but fine for two people and functional. Get one high up if you can. The views from the balcony are great and well worth it if you pay for a sea view. One thing I do remember is that if you want to sleep in then it may be hard as the doors all slam very easily and people are generally terrible about allowing this to happen (failing that, room service will do the trick!!!). However, please don't let that put you off as this place is generally peaceful and well located. The walks at night time are also fab as you can walk along the decking of the beach all the way along and into the marina.
This hotel is also located a stone's throw from the restauarant Sa Punta (which can be excellent, but it can be inconsistent and varies from year to year. The pizza place on talamanca beach (at the end near hotel Argos) is an Ibiza must. Have a calezone and ignore the appaling service. Just order a bottle of cheap wine, an amazing pizza and take it in. This place is by far the best value restautant in Ibiza. If you want to spend the money there there is no shortage of options and places such as KM5, Blue Marlin, el Churringito, Novum (michelin star quality), Dalt Villa (order the veggie lasagne), Bambudda Grov etc are all great. I don't know about the new place by Pacha called Leo but reviews from friends are mixed (you won't walk away for less than £150pp realistically).
The gym: I would never normally mention this. After all, why would you exercise on holiday (your too full, relaxed or tipsy to do so!). However, I was in marathon mode and I must say that the facikties are woeful. most machines were v.dated or broken. The runs around the isalnd more than made up for this.
As an alternative to this hotel I would recommend "The One" which is on the top of a hill and only a 10 min walk from Talamanca (although at night you would need a taxi/bus etc). This place is far better for pool facilities (I forgot to mention that Simbad's pool is not great) and views. You could really chill here. Stay in Block B if you have a choice. Happy holidays...
