We spent the first 3 nights of our Canvas 21 night holiday in europe as this was an area we had not visited before. However we may well go back. The campsite site sits hundreds of feet above the town of Saarburg. Be careful of Sat Nav directions as on arrival we were sent up vineyard dirt tracks (with shear drops). Take the proper road near to the Lidl supermarket and you wont go wrong. The besy way up + down to the village is by cable car (5E return). For potential nervous users ask the cable car man for a yellow flag as this actually stops the gondola and gives you plenty of time to get in and out.Saarburg is a gem of a town with cheapish restaurants + bars around the river / waterfall area. Boat rides avaiable to various destinations depedent on season.Trier was a great town to visit too.
Back on the camp there was an indoor swimming pool, BEWARE the Sauna - it is an electric Ovwn!. Restaurant OK. There's a great bobsliegh ride for the kids. Dogs are welcome. Great walks from the campsite - one to a winetasting centre.Great for birding and nature watching - saw a muntjac one early morning at the edge of a little forest.. The canvas husband + wife team were very friendly and helpful.
