I stay here a lot so have experienced the highs and lows of the place. Had three owners and did know a lot of the staff, sadly not there anymore which says a lot. I use to think it was a bit quirky and quaint but now it is getting to a Fawlty Towers experience. Firstly, I booked on the Legacy Web Site and unusually I booked dinner, £20 instead of £25. The £25 dinner does not exisit but should have £5 off. Staff did know anything about it so Leagcy owes me £5. Next, Wifi. Warning do not stay there if you need realiable internet access. The last two visits I had the same room and wifi was poor to say the least. This time is virtually impossible to get except in the garden bar and even that was poor. On mentioning this to reception all she could do was try and give the passcode. If you want I can tell you what it is! I managed to flush the toilet twice! On the first time I used it and then in the morning it worked again. It was a good job I was on my own.
You have to be warned it is right on the flight path of Stansted Airport. That does not bother me as once asleep nothing disturbs me but if you a light sleeper you might not get a good nights sleep.
I will stay there again but sort the wifi out, the Legacy Web Site (you owe me £5) and get the staff trained so they know what is going on.
