I was a little apprehensive booking this hotels as it seems to have quite a mixed review rating from excellent to extremely poor. Stayed Saturday 28th, booked two rooms, got rooms 127 & 128. Both rooms were very spacious, very clean, and quite well quipped , table and chairs, television, hairdryer, new iron and ironing board, plenty of tea/coffee and biscuits and a good range of toiletries The staff on reception were extremely helpful and courteous. We had a few drinks in the upstairs bar area before we left for the evening, again bar staff very helpful and friendly. Not sure what people staying in a hotel expect for breakfast from some of the other reviews but there was a large selection of fruit juices, cereal, yoghurts and fresh fruit, hot food included eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes, black pudding, beans, hash browns all of which were help yourself from the breakfast bar and tea/coffee and toast ordered at the table. The staff serving breakfast were also friendly and helpful. The hotel decor in general was fine, plenty of literature in the foyer for activities/events etc in the area. The car park is huge so no problem with parking. There is a large pond feature in the garden and plenty of wild life such as rabbits running about , all quite nice really. It’s not a five star establishment granted but better than a lot of four stars we have stayed in and for £55.00 for a double it offered excellent value for money in a clean friendly environment. The taxi ride into Yarm took less than 10 minutes so location great. We all agreed we would be more than happy to stay at this hotel again.
