An echoing, soulless morgue with very variable levels of service.
We decided to stay here as we have two teenage children and we thought the gym and swimming pool would help them to balance the culture on the mainland, particularly as we were going at a time of the year when Venice is hot and overcrowded. I knew it was expensive , but no-where in Venice is cheap.
We stayed there for four nights and in that time I had to complain about a number of things but the main elements were; a filthy bath when we arrived, shower door falling off its hinges, dirty plates remaining uncleared from our room for two days ( I eventually left them outside in the corridor|),no hot water ( two phone calls and a trip to reception to sort this out), returning from Venice at 14.00 one day our rooms were untouched and the beds unmade,. There were other things but I think that this conveys the general sense of bad management. This is not a five star hotel by any stretch of the imagination.
In an effort to be fair I would have to say that the two attendants at the swimming pool were unfailingly charming and helpful.
If we go back to Venice again in the summer we will stay again at the Hotel des Bains on the Lido, where we stayed last time and which was delightful and worth the money.
