Stayed here for one night after reading reviews as we wanted to visit Salisbury but stay in an inn nearby. Fully agree with previous reviews regarding the friendliness and efficiency of staff and quality of accommodation for a reasonable price. Good choice of beers although the bitter was served a tad too chilly in my opinion. The meal in the reastaurant was fairly good.
So far so good, then we came to breakfast the following morning.
What a disappointment! On arrival there were a few of the variety type packs of cereal on a table with an empty jug that previously contained juice, that was it. The waitress (very nice and friendly like the other staff) asked us what we wanted (there was no menu), so my wife asked what the 'full english' consisted of. Unfortunately the waitress could not remember but she ordered it anyway and I ordered a cut down version. The meals arrived looking nicely presented on 'posh' square plates. Unfortunately the content was virtually inedible. Putting a sprig of green leafy stuff on top of dried up bits of overcooked egg does not turn the dish into scrambled eggs. Overcooked, cheap, poor quality sausages and a few slivers of tasteless mushroom accompanied it. The only edible part of mine was a rasher of bacon (although this was overcooked and dry). A cup of grey, undrinkable tea topped off the feast. Luckily the toast was ok, although we had to ask for and then wait for marmalade.
This is the first review I have ever done and I feel a little guilty as otherwise I enjoyed our stay, however the lasting impression of b&b accommodation is the breakfast and we left feeling hungry and let down.
I assume that the dinner chef has nothing to do with sourcing and cooking the breakfasts as the contrast was marked.
So come on Woodfalls sort the problem out to ensure that customers such as us think about a return trip.
