There are several different properties in this little village- this review if for:
We picked this accomodation because we had trouble finding a lot of info on places to stay in Mljet and they were the exception- very nice, slick website and they came across as accomodating.
Pros- the apartment was very nice (save for the cracked, leaking sink in the bathroom- this seemed to be an issue everywhere in Croatia). The apartment opened up to a balcony overlooking one of the lakes. Very quiet.
Cons: Everything was just DIFFICULT. It started off well- the owner picked us up from the ferry in Polace and promised that it would be "no problem" to take us back three days later to catch the early AM ferry in Sobra. His English appeared good on the surface but I don't think he actually understood a lot of our questions and would just say "yes" to things that weren't correct. He offered to take us fishing- we said "great! what time?" He told us a time and when we showed up he acted like he had no idea what we were talking about. He pointed out their "restaurant" but failed to tell us that if we wanted dinner we had to notify them the day before. No breakfast or lunch served. Getting a meal was such an ordeal it stressed us out- we were far from Pomena/Polace and hadn't rented a car and they KNEW that- where did they think we were eating?! It was like they didn't want the additional business. The first night one of the owners of the property next door took pity on us and whipped up the most delicious fish meal! I'm not sure what the name of their property is but they seemed so much more accomodating to their guests- stay there or Soline 6 instead.
Oh, and at the end of the trip the owner renigged on taking us to Sobra and we had to catch a bus instead- which was fine, but again caused a very stressful situation.
Bottom line- If you have a car and are planning to self-cater, this place is fine. Otherwise, I would not stay here. They need to provide more info to guests. There's a written-up info sheet in the room but it mainly pertains to rates and cancellation policies- there needs to be something that clearly states when their "restaurant" is open, how you arrange to get a meal, organize the supposed activities they advertise, etc. This was supposed to be the relaxing part of our trip and it was the most stressful.
