Hilda is an old Pullman rail carriage, which has been extended to provide extremely comfortable guest accommodation, whilst still retaining the unique character of a railway carriage - think Agatha Christie, Murder on the Orient Express for an idea of the ambience. The setting of Hilda couldn't be better with panoramic views of the coast stretching east towards Bognor and Brighton.
Jenny, the owner, is an excellent host and went out of her way to make us welcome, providing us with good tips for places to eat out, and delicious breakfasts. There are many personal touches in the accommodation and these add to the experience of being a 'valued guest'.
Hilda is a great base for exploring the Chichester Harbour, which is what we did when we visited. Bosham, Dell Quay and Chidham are all attractive villages close to the accommodation which are well worth a visit, and which provide good starting points for walks in the area.
The sandy beach at West Wittering is also within comfortable driving distance of Hilda (approx 20 mins), which makes for a good day out in all weathers, as if it is not sunny there is plenty of interesting wildlife and dune systems to explore.
Overall highly recommended!
