Hello,

My wife and I came from America (NYC) to be married in Ireland in August 2006. Following a ceremony at St. Colman's parish church in Craughwell, we returned with our guests to St. Cleran's for our reception.

To some extent, words fail to describe the wonderful experience that St. Cleran's staff, led by the incomparable Ken Bergin and Chef Kuma, provided for us that day.

But, let's start before the ceremony. St. Cleran's helped make our slightly madcap dream of a "destination wedding" a reality by helping us sort through our choices for florists, bakeries, car services, hairdressers, makeup artists, musicians, etc., by letting us know who they recommended, but by giving us a full range of choices. Ultimately, we made the decision to follow their recommendations, and were not disappointed at all.

Then, when we arrived before the ceremony, St. Cleran's played host to around 20 of our family and friends who arrived from America, including helping us put on a rehearsal dinner (which we had forgotten to plan for) the night before the wedding, while the dining room was full with another party. A slightly awkward and challenging moment handled with great care.

The reception itself was a bit of magic. The service was sublime, the food flawless, the spirit generous and giving.

And of course, the rooms are gloriously appointed without being too formal, and very comfortable.

In all, nothing short of perfection. To say that my wife and I recommend St. Cleran's is an understatement. We believe that if you can, you simply must enjoy the singular experience St. Cleran's offers. St. Cleran's elegantly embodies the spirit of Céad míle fáilte.

Having read other reviews on trip advisor, we decided to stay here for a weekend break. On arrival, we were greeted by Barry who brought us to our room.....what a room...beautiful. The hotel regularly appears to have themed evenings in the restaurant and on our first night we enjoyed a contemporary japanese evening. Chef Kuma explained everything to us and we enjoyed a beautiful meal. Breakfast the following morning was excellent and so was our enjoyment of this "hidden gem" for the rest of the weekend.
The staff cannot do enough for you and yet are not overpowering. Could not recommend this hotel more highly.

Really enjoyed the long drive (4km) away from the main road to get to the Manor which is a lovely building with long uninterrupted views across fields containing sheep and horses.

Our Eyre suite was accessed from the middle of the staircase which is slightly worrying until you find the huge room with huge bathroom, not lacking nice towels only lacking the towel rails! The manor needs to be encouraged to offer the eco option of reusing towels. The other big suites look very good too.

Restaurant food and service excellent for dinner and breakfast. Comfortable lounges. Very good staff on the front desk.

Highly recommended if you find yourself in the Galway area and recommend a trip to Connemara.

  • Disliked — No option to reuse towels (for environmental reasons)

My family and I stayed at St Clerans for the wedding of my brother on Saturday last Oct 20th.
I have so much to say about St Clerans that I genuinely don't know where to begin.
It is without a doubt one of the nicest places I have ever stayed in, in Ireland or abroad. Everything is 5 star, from the food to the service, the surroundings, the decor, the ambiance, the rooms etc etc, the list goes on.
The staff are amazing and they almost glide around the hotel without you even knowing they are there. The General Manager Ken couldn't be nicer and he did everything to make sure we had the best time ever - and we did. My only complaint was that we had just one night in the hotel, nobody wanted to leave and we had to be dragged away kicking and screaming. I will definitely go back. It is the perfect setting for a small wedding or for a special weekend away.
We stayed in the Burke room which was only gorgeous but I saw all of the other rooms and would have been happy with any of them.

Go there and you won't be disappointed.

Everything about this place screams professional and elegant. The service was outstanding right throughout our entire stay. The room was enormous and beautifully appointed. The grounds of the hotel were lovely to stroll around in. The food was so outstanding we ate there every morning and evening. As we were travelling with a 7 month old baby they very kindly served us dinner to our room on two of the evenings we stayed so that we could relax and enjoy it whilst our son was sleeping. Ideal given that we had a full size dining table in the room.
Our room was a touch on the noisy side as it was directly under the in-house restaurant (obviously given to us so that our son could scream his lungs out if he chose to and not a soul would have heard him). In their defence, however, we were advised on check-in of the potential noise issue and told that we were welcome to change rooms if it was an issue.
This place was absolutely outstanding. It isn't a budget option but it is worth every cent.
