My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights in the Griffin Suite and it was just a perfect experience. The room, the ambience, the food, the staff - all leave very little room for improvement. My wife is a vegetarian and has eaten in five-star establishments across the world, but described her meals here as the best she has ever had. Ken, the manager, is extremely friendly and always on hand, and there is obviously a shared team ethos among the staff to make your stay the best possible - and they succeed!

If you are in search of peace, tranquility and the epitome of Irish country life you need look no further than St. Clerans, situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty in all seasons. This truly magnificent 18th century manor house that once belonged to the famous Hollywood director Mr. John Huston (The African Queen with Humphrey Bogart & Katharine Hepburn) stands in forty five acres of grounds along with its own babbling brook. As soon as you arrive you feel like you are at home with the splendid furniture and glowing open log fires. The Management & staff couldn't do enough for us and where incredibly polite and accommodating to our every wish. Breakfast was fit for a king.

Here you will find a place to relax...sit back and enjoy real pleasure. Excellent bedrooms with luxurious Italian linens along with ensuite bathrooms (ours also had a log fire), complete with exquisite soaps. All rooms offer superb views over countryside. Ideally situated for exploring Galway and surrounding areas.

Just returned from a wonderful two nights stay at St.Clerans. The accommodations, food and service were absolutely fantastic. The location of this country home is beautiful. We felt like we had stumbled across a time warp as we sat at our window seat looking across the gardens towards nearby fields of grazing cattle. There was nothing to stop you pretending you were at a turn-of-the-century fishing or hunting party except that we had the benefit of plenty of hot water and good shower pressure that was lacking for unfortunate guests visiting country homes back then. The breakfast and dinners were both elegant and of great quality. We were glad that we only had to walk a few steps up the grand staircase to the comfort of the O'Hara suite after dinner each evening. Elizabeth O'Mahony and her staff were welcoming, attentive and informative and in our opinion Elizabeth is the hidden jewel of a hidden jewel. We just can't wait for an excuse to go back.

We were touring Ireland, and we had booked 1 night at St. Cleran's. I wish it could have been a week. I have to say that I've never been so pampered, and have never felt less put-out in my life, at any hotel...anywhere! My wife and I were shown to our room, (there are only 8, I believe). In fact, the rooms aren't even numbered...they're named. The bed was the most amazing bed that I've ever slept in...ever. Apparently, an Arabian Sheikh stayed there, and offered $25,000 to take the bed home...they refused, but they did offer to show him how to buy the parts to make it, where to buy them. We had dinner that night in the Manor House (which is really what it is), and it was truly perfect. The wine, the meat, the dessert, the coffee...absolutely perfect. When my wife and I retired to our room, our bed was turned down and opera was playing on the CD-Player in the room. A full Irish breakfast the next morning, and it was goodbye to St. Cleran's. After the entire experience, I would have to say that it was my favorite hotel where I've ever stayed. In my humble opinion, it's the best hotel in the world!

We stayed at St. Clerans in April of 2000. This place is like something out of a movie! It's in the middle of a pasture and surrounded by cows and sheep. The staff treat each guests like royalty. It's really like like staying the weekend at a wealthy friend's country home! We stayed in the O'Hara room which was furnished with Georgian furniture, a fireplace and a very roomy and posh bathroom. Other amenities included bathrobe and slippers, bottled water and a decanter of sherry. Each night we drifted off to sleep under high quality bedlinens and the sounds of Mozart. I should mention that we were in a standard room.
Can't imagine what the suites are like! Great value. Magical surroundings. Attentive service. Dreaming of a return trip.
