Its more a run-down anglers inn than a hotel. Staff were minimal, multitasking and clearly overworked. Rooms were filthy, grimy, full of spiders, cobwebs, mould, dead moths in the bathroom, empty shower gel bottle in the shower from previous guests, hairs (of various types) on the bed sheets, I even found dog treats on the floor! Their cleaning routine seemed only to consist of mopping the floor with bleach to hide the smell of damp!! Water pressure was appalling and there was no hot water. Beds were old and uncomfortable. There was no central heating so we had to sleep in extra clothes, even ate meals wearing our coats! When we complained about the mould in the bedrooms and asked for them to be cleaned we were met with hostility from the owner, who even offered to 'take it outside'!! Shocking behaviour. Food was ok, large portions, but crockery dirty and service painfully slow, except for breakfast which came out so fast it was surprising how cold it was! The tables were so cramped we even had to ask the table next to us to go and get us some cups, milk and sugar etc from the bar because we couldnt get past and the waitress was so busy! I could go on but overall we wished we could have left. DO NOT STAY HERE! We regret not checking these reviews before our stay as it totally ruined the weekend for our whole family.
Why pay £60 a night to stay here when you could sleep in a roofless old barn for free?!
