My boyfriend and I stayed at the Rincon Beach Resort for a week in October last year when we came to visit his family. It was my first trip to Puerto Rico so I wasn't sure what to expect. When I came across Rincon Beach Resort online I fell in love instantly and booked the room just as quick! We arrived at the hotel about midnight and couldn't believe the hotel was even better then the pics! I will say we did have trouble finding the place at first because it is what other have said "off the beaten path" but we didn't mind. The hotel was so tropical! We loved our room (Superior rm) and had a view of the Palm trees and pool/beach. We only ate once at their restaurant because we were always on the move pretty early in the morning but I wish we had eaten there everyday. Breakfast was so delicious, ample and affordable! The pool area was beautiful. We spent our last day there hanging on the beach kyaking and swimming in the pool. You definately need a car but I found that is anywhere you stay in PR you drive everywhere. The staff was great! They were so helpful and answered any questions I had. We were there when Hurricane Omar was thought to hit us (thankfully it didn't) and the staff kept us updated. Housekeepers were wonderful. Our room was so clean and kept that way everytime we came back to the room at the end of the day. A.C. was the best. It was so humid when were there and it felt great to walk into an icebox when we got back! We cannot wait to go back again! There is so much more for us to do and see and staying at the Rincon Resort has us in the middle of everywhere we want to go. We are definately coming back again!!

I will agree with other reviews in saying that the staff was very helpful, but that was the only positive experience with this hotel we can speak of. First, the "resort" is dated and more than just "off the beaten path." After fighting 3 hours of traffic in Puerto Rico, you arrive at the hotel and the first thing you see is the run down tennis courts. Parking is several yards from the hotel itself, where theft is a problem. We traveled with another couple, and here is a list of problems we had with our rooms:
1. TV's did NOT work in either room. This must not have been an isolated incident as there were several guests gathered in the lobby watching tv.
2. Toilet did not flush in our room.
3. Phones did NOT work in either room.
4. There were dead bugs in the bathrooms and on the floor.
5. We were supposed to have a King bed, they gave us 2 double beds.
6. Ocean view? Not so much. If you stretch you might catch a glimpse after looking over the other buildings, playground, and pool.
7. There are very few eateries in the area and they are pricey, one couple we spoke w/ had eaten at the same place every night for a week.
8. The floors in the rooms were just gross! They were visibly dirty.
9. One of the elevators did not work and according to other guests it had been down the prior week also.
10. The Beach: If are you looking for white sandy beaches this is NOT the place for you. The beach is literally brown, while the water is far from clear. I will say the pool was decent but is advertised as an infinity pool which it most certainly is not.

The bugs here are HUGE and EVERYWHERE as the lobby is open-air.

If after this, you still choose to vaca. in Rincon, you will need a rental car. There is absolutely nothing within walking distance.

We stayed one night out of the entire week's vacation and paid extra to book a flight and hotel in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands.

My wife and I stayed there for a week 5/11 to 5/16, for work. We booked the hotel through my wife's travel department. Her department was told $119+tax when we arrived we were told it was 130+tax. Ok not a big deal just the point. When we asked about it, the women checking us in stated that she made the rev. and we were wrong about the price. Though when we had called and talked to Stephanie Ramirez, right after the stay was booked she also told us it was 119+tax and the room had an ocean view. Having traveled since 4 am and it was now 5pm, we were not going to fight over 11 bucks.

When we got to the room there was no view all you could see was a palm tree that was blocking the window. We asked to be moved and we were.

The hotel is nice, needs some painting and upkeep but nothing too bad. Pool was nice, Beach was clean. There was a bar that you could swim up to in the pool that was never opened the whole time we were there.

The Bartender was great i wish i could remember his name but i guess one of the signs of a good bartender is not remembering :)

The restaurant staff was also helpful and very nice.

The Front desk staff was just awful the whole trip. When we arrived we had to wait for the 2 women to stop talking about their weekend before they even checked us in. They were talking in Spanish and guess they thought my wife did not speak Spanish.
We wanted to go to dinner that night and asked if the front desk staff had any ideas. Only 1 guy even answered us. There were 4 people working. When we asked for a map of the area, we were told they did not have one. I found one on the front desk in a holder. They did not even acknowledge us, they just went back to talking. We were never greeted when we came in or left. Any time we went to the desk it felt like you were bothering them just being there. On the last day we were checking out. Again we were not greeted, asked how our stay was, anything. My wife asked for a water, the woman looked at her and then went right back to checking us out like she did not hear her. She was training someone, and took 10-15 min to check out. She did not say anything to us about it. Did not ask if it was ok to train her, if we were in a hurry or anything. After we paid, the woman turned her back to us to talk to another woman that worked there that had walked in wearing sunglasses, asking why she had them on in here. The woman in the glasses went on about how drunk she was from the night before. The woman that checked us out never said goodbye, we were done, nothing.

All in all if you want a place to relax and do not need anything from the staff it is an ok place. If you need any service at all this is not the place for you. Since this is a service industry, no matter how nice the property is, if the service is this bad it ruins the whole trip. Service is one of the most important things about a hotel, and can make or break the experience. I am a very easy traveler and have only ever wrote 1 other bad review and that was about The Princess hotel in Belize City, if you have been there you truly understand.

Before going i read all the reviews about how good the staff was and realy hoped for a good trip. This was the first trip my wife and I have been able to take in 10 years and we had hoped it would be so much better than it was.

I would start off by saying if you want peace and quiet and mill your time away on a beach this is the place for you. If you are looking for some nightlife, this place is not where you want to go. Across the road, there is a billiard hall that has a lot of drunk people hanging around but they can't get on the resort.

Rooms are modestly furnished but clean. The pool was cleaned every morning and the beach is very clean and nice. A bit rocky in the water but the sand is fine. Staff are very nice and very accommodating.

Breakfast buffet is a real bargain...$8 for continental, $12 (I think) for meats. If you drive 10 minutes up the road, you can find more selection, especially for dinner. Restaurant food was always good when we ordered and not that expensive for a hotel.

For those who need to workout, the gymnasium was a BIG disappointment. Nothing worked, snapped cables. Some machines were re-rigged and could be very dangerous to use.

We paid about $160/night for this place. I was expecting a bit more in terms of room and patio furnishings. But it was clean, safe and had a good beach. But I would not return if I go back to Rincon.
