“Great venue. Not fine dining but highly recommended”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2011

We visit Koh Samui every year in the June /July period . We are sports fans and this is the time of year when Super 15 rugby is in full flow so we always look for a restaurant/pub with the various sports channels. For the last 2 years we have been regular visitors to The Big Budha Cafe (The BBC) which is close to Fishermans village. The location is fantastic, the food is good and reasonably priced, the staff is excellent and the owners Mark (a New Zealander) and his wife are very helpful and arrange whatever sporting channel we ask for.

“Most incredible views”

My husband and I ate lunch here on our honeymoon. We had just visited the Big Buddha and were in need of shade and a cold beverage. BBC provided all that, and the most amazing views! We were sat at the water's edge, still in the shade, but with access to the full ocean view and the Big Buddha itself. We took loads of photos! Our pad thais were tasty and service was good. I had a cocktail out of a coconut shell (their speciality drink!) which was huge and very refreshing!! I wish we'd been back later in the day to see the sunset as I believe they are spectacular from there (and I can imagine it) but any time of day, I would recommend BBC.

We walked to the Big Buddha Cafe from the nearby Outrigger Resort where we were staying. The sunset view as advertised is one of the best on Koh Samui, the meals were good with a large and varied menu and reasonably priced. The service was excellent. We will definately return on our next visit.

We stopped for lunch at BBC after having visited Big Buddha and the local food market. The menu is extensive to suit all tastes with "Specials" listed on the board. Very tasty. Lovely location overlooking the sea. Very clean. Good service and a range of drinks and beers.

“Drink in the view and a cocktail or two too!”

The BBC is in the Lonely Planet for a reason. Walking off the street onto the terrace is like walking into a postcard "tropical island evening". The view is gorgeous and the setting (and bathroom) was immaculate. Great service, good food and drinks and a friendly chat with the Kiwi owner as we left made us feel at once at home and abroad. We ate Thai - but a family further down the terrace were sharing nachos with the kids so the menu caters to all comers.
